Because of this, Copeland recommends the neighborhood to "Young families and people looking to live a chill, laid-back lifestyle." Double Diamond is also close to not just shopping, but the rest of Reno, as residents can get downtown in less than twenty minutes along Interstate 580, making it a "great location to commute from," says Copeland. With "some of the best schools and shops in the area" and a "convenient location," residents of Double Diamond can enjoy peaceful, suburban surroundings, a family-friendly community and great mountain views at home.

Reno-area homes at the base of the Sierra Nevada

Despite this relatively affordable cost, Double Diamond residents enjoy larger lots, peaceful, all-residential streets and views of the snow-capped Sierra Nevadas from their homes. Older students can go to school in the neighborhood at Kendyl Depoali Middle before attending Damonte Ranch High, both of which receive an A-minus from Niche. Kendyl Depoali Middle School sets its students up for a great year with the Roadmap for Success program — a three-act rubric that sets campus goals and revisits them three times a year. At Damonte Ranch High, students join a culture of respect, readiness and responsibility and are also offered Dual Credit and Advanced Placement courses.

To get outside, Double Diamond residents can walk over to local greenspaces like Comstock Park to use the playground, play a game with friends and family or get some cardio in on the park's paved trail. The park's baseball field is an excellent location to play some kickball or practice swinging a bat. For something beyond the neighborhood, residents can head to the Truckee River close to Reno to find miles of continuous bike trails, parks with white water rafting and one-of-a-kind business areas. For a healthy lunch, stop by Chop Stop, a salad shop where residents can order creative, healthy options like mixed greens tossed with black beans, avocado, chicken, Roasted corn and cilantro lime dressing, or other options like burritos and wraps. For a sweet treat, try the Chocolate Wolfpack Claw at Doughboys Donuts to support the University of Nevada's athletic programs. When going out for the night, Schussboom Brewing Co. is a popular spot for cold craft beer and their "pear-fection" pizza, a savory combination of red wine poached pears, gorgonzola, caramelized onion, toasted walnuts and arugula. For dinner at home, residents can pick up some groceries from their local Safeway, which is located right in the neighborhood.

Getting around Double Diamond
Double Diamond residents are only about 11 miles from downtown Reno and can easily head into the city, whether commuting for work or just visiting, by driving less than twenty minutes north along nearby Interstate 580. Locally, smooth sidewalks and public bus routes along Double Diamond Parkway connect pedestrians and cyclists with options for shopping, dining and outdoor activities. To get to the nearest hospital, the Northern Nevada Medical Center is just a few miles north along Double R Boulevard, while the closest airport, Reno-Tahoe International, is in Reno just down Interstate 580.

Double Diamond is only a short fifteen minute drive from Downtown Reno on i-580.
