An active lifestyle at the base of the Sierra Nevada

Spanning from the base of the Sierra Nevada Mountains to the edge of Reno, Summit Sierra is a lively neighborhood with much to offer its residents. “It’s very desirable. The Summit mall is right there. It’s close to Mt. Rose Highway, where people can drive up to go skiing and snowboarding. And it’s close to Lake Tahoe,” says Jeanene Raffanelli, a broker/salesman with RE/MAX Gold who works in the area. Residents here benefit from natural beauty and recreation to the west and commercial activity to the east. Between the two, buyers will find well-cared-for homes on large lots and comfortable subdivisions where residents get to know their neighbors while walking through the community or visiting a local park.

Spanish-style homes in the Sierra Nevada

Homes in Summit Sierra come in various styles, although ranch-style houses are among the most common. Homebuyers can find plenty of Spanish-style ranch-style homes with stucco siding and red tile roofs. Many houses also incorporate stone features into the exterior. New traditional and Craftsman homes are also common, with wood siding and spacious built-in garages. The neighborhood is comprised of several subdivisions. The subdivisions on the east side feature homes built close together. The subdivisions in the center and west side of the community have homes that are more spread out on larger lots. The green grass and mature trees contrast with the surrounding desert landscape. Most homes in the neighborhood have at least four bedrooms and start at around $700,000. Larger homes with 3,500 square feet or more can cost between $1.5 and $2 million.

Sip and shop at The Summit

The Summit is a popular outdoor shopping mall just east of Interstate 580, home to several national retailers, including Dillard’s, Ulta and Williams-Sonoma. Residents can see the latest hit movies at the Cinemark Century movie theater at the mall. There are also several popular restaurants in the area. “There’s BJ’s Restaurant and Brewhouse over there. I think a lot of the popular restaurants are in the Damonte area, which is still in south Reno. That’s where The Twisted Fork is,” says Raffanelli. BJ’s is a chain restaurant with classic bar food like burgers and pizza, plus an extensive beer list. The Twisted Fork is about 4.5 miles from the neighborhood and is known for its upscale American fare, like short ribs and macaroni and cheese. Residents can shop for groceries at Raley’s O-N-E Market on Mt. Rose Highway on the neighborhood’s east side.
