Economic growth and diversity drive Reynoldsburg’s appeal

On the east side of the Columbus metro area, Reynoldsburg is an inner-ring city of about 41,000 people known for its suburban vibes and a growing job market. A flourishing economy has brought a steady increase in population that hasn’t let up since the beginning of the 20th century. This has created a diverse atmosphere of multiculturalism, with higher annual numbers of Black, Hispanic and Nepalese-Bhutanese locals, all of whom bring distinct sights, sounds and flavors to the area.

What home styles and prices look like across Reynoldsburg

Homes in the area cover a variety of styles and price points, including historic American Foursquare and Colonial dwellings in Olde Reynoldsburg. These early-20th-century houses range from the high $100,000s to the low $300,000s, depending on condition. Neighborhoods like Elmbrook Village and Brice Estates have midcentury split-level and ranch-style homes that sell from the low $100,000s to the high $300,000s. But the majority of the city’s homes are contemporary, with new subdivisions like Woods At Reynoldsburg being developed constantly. Houses in these areas run from the mid-$200,000s to the high $500,000s, depending on amenities and size. The median price for a single-family property is in the low $300,000s, less than the medians in nearby areas like Pataskala, Gahanna and Pickerington. John Kohlhepp, founder of the Embark Real Estate Group, says a lower cost of living is a big draw for families, especially when you compare Reynoldsburg to comparable cities. “It’s a lot like Hilliard, but less expensive in general,” he says.

Resources and programs for students from diverse backgrounds

In response to the city’s growing multiculturalism, the highly ranked Reynoldsburg School District is equipped to teach students from all over the world. “We have one of the largest English-learning student populations in Ohio,” says Brandon Mullins, Communications Coordinator for Reynoldsburg City Schools. “So we have more resources in place for students with those needs.” Mullins claims that a tight-knit community is responsible for the district’s success. “We try to build the culture—get more involved with the families,” he says. “So the students feel like they’re a part of something, not just going to class.”

Tomato Festival and other events celebrate local culture

The city has plenty of annual opportunities to celebrate and have fun with your neighbors:

  • The Tomato Festival is Reynoldsburg’s largest festival, toasting the area’s history with live entertainment, a car show and a blue ribbon tomato contest.
  • The Pride Celebration commemorates the LGBTQIA+ with music, craft vendors and a pet parade.
  • The Diwali-Tihar Festival was first held in 2021 and has grown in popularity every year since, hitting 15,000 attendees in 2025.
  • Christmas on the Town rings in the holidays with family friendly activities, pictures with Santa and a tree lighting.

Driving is the main way commuters get around

Easy access to Interstate 70 and state Routes 16 and 40 means traveling to the surrounding area is straightforward. However, this can also lead to high levels of traffic. “A commute out of Reynoldsburg can take a while,” says Kohlhepp. “Reynoldsburg has just grown so much that the infrastructure hasn’t been able to keep up.” Columbus is about 15 miles away, while the tech jobs of New Albany are about 10 miles away. Though most people use cars to get to work, the Central Ohio Transit Authority has fixed bus routes into Columbus from Reynoldsburg.

Corporate offices and tech hubs bring jobs closer to home

Though many commute to Columbus for work, there are some sizeable businesses in the area, including Victoria’s Secret, which keeps its headquarters in Reynoldsburg and employs more locals than any other business. Bath & Body Works and TS Tech Americas also have corporate offices in the area. According to Sue Lusk-Gleich, founder of The Columbus Team with Keller Williams Capital Partners Realty, the growth of the tech industry is drawing new businesses and workers every day. “Google and Amazon now is buying up all the real estate and building all kinds of tech hubs,” she says.
