Rich Township offers country living close to daily comforts
Deep in the countryside of southeast Michigan, Rich Township offers homes along wide-open roads while still within proximity to several small cities and villages. “It’s mostly farmland,” says Realtor Taylor Donley of Donley Realty, who lives in neighboring Burlington Township. “This is definitely country living.” Rich Township is a close drive from nearby cities like Lapeer and Imlay City. It’s also about 40 miles to Flint and about 90 miles to downtown Detroit. With plenty of open space, natural scenery and fresh air, Rich Township could be the country feel you’ve been looking for in southeast Michigan.

The township is home to about 1,600 residents, and encompasses the village of Silverwood, a tiny unincorporated community with a small outcropping of homes, a post office and a restaurant. Within Silverwood, there’s a mix of cozy ranch homes, cottages and some two-story homes whose lots back up to wide-open fields and farmland. The rest of the township features homes nestled deep in the countryside on sprawling lots that can range from one acre to more than 15 acres. These homes' generous setbacks and natural surrounds offer residents plenty of peace and quiet. Home prices in the area range from as little as $75,000 for smaller homes with less acreage to between $200,000 to $300,000 for homes on lots with room to roam.
