An Asian cultural and dining hub in Dallas
Home to Dallas-Fort Worth Chinatown, the Highland Terrace neighborhood offers a pocket of Asia in the heart of cowboy country. Established by Chinese immigrants who came to work for area tech companies in the 1980s, DFW Chinatown is much more than a strip mall — it serves as a social epicenter for the entire Richardson community. People of all ethnicities gather at eateries to savor Korean, Taiwanese, Japanese, Chinese and Vietnamese dishes and celebrate holidays such as Chinese New Year. “Being a part of Chinatown is a big draw to Highland Terrace,” says local Realtor D’Marques Allen with eXp Realty. “It’s a cultural district. People came from all over the world and were able to create a little piece of their home there. It’s known as a place where you go to get the best Asian cuisine.”
Visit Highland Terrace for the scenic views and stay for the friendly community.

Established ranch homes in a suburban-urban setting
Realtor Allen notes that lots here usually run smaller than in other Richardson neighborhoods. “It’s an urban area, but you do have suburban parts as well,” he says, adding that the enclave still has a laidback feel. Ranch-style homes are the most common, most of which were built in the 50s and 60s, though some date back to the 30s. The housing mix also includes a few larger contemporary brick homes and New Traditional split levels. Real estate prices may range between $220,000 and $700,000.
