Old charm close to St. Louis amenities
One of many self-governing cities in St. Louis County, Richmond Heights combines the older charm of St. Louis homes with modern convenience to nearby shopping and downtown events such as the 1,300-acre Forest Park with the Saint Louis Zoo. Richmond Heights is a mostly residential area, with narrow, occasionally winding, streets and steep driveways. Older homes built with red brick sit side by side, and trees reach for the sky as cars park under their leaves on the streets. “It always felt like I was in the middle of everything,” says Caitlin Butler, former resident of Richmond Heights who now works at local energy company Ameren. “I loved it.”

A local mall and three miles to dining
Richmond Heights is home to the Saint Louis Galleria, which contains stores such as Urban Outfitters, The North Face and The Cheesecake Factory for a total of over 140 stores. “It’s where I go for any mall shopping needs to this day,” Butler says. The Galleria, as it is commonly referred to, is to the west of the city. Across the road is Maggiano’s Little Italy, a fine-dining Italian restaurant. Nick’s Bar, about three miles away, offers drinks and pizza along with occasional live music. For groceries, there is a Schnucks, a St. Louis-based supermarket, is about a mile north on the border between Richmond Heights and neighboring city Clayton.
