North Sacramento suburbia

The rural Sacramento suburb of Rio Linda provides residents with a small-town atmosphere while still offering access to the amenities and conveniences of nearby Sacramento. The community got its name, meaning "pretty river," because of the waterway that gave life to the surrounding desert land. That waterway is now called Dry Creek, and despite its name, water continues to run through its banks. Residents here tend to commute to Sacramento or Roseville, as the Rio Linda area has few employment opportunities.
