Downtown Riverside
Suburban Neighborhood in Riverside, California
Riverside County 92501, 92509
Home styles include Craftsmans and Mission Revivals
People move to Riverside “for multiple reasons, but mostly because the homes have a lot of original charm,” says Tyler Hungerford, 2023’s No. 1 Real Estate Agent at Keller Williams Riverside. “Many were built before 1940. There are a lot of beautiful, classic Victorian houses.” Along leafy tree-lined streets, Downtown homes and buildings display much of California’s unique architectural history. The diverse selection of homes includes luxury estates, single-family houses and apartment complexes, with styles ranging from Mission Revival to Craftsman. Prices range from about $425,000 to $970,000. Apartment complex rates range from about $2,100 to $3,545 monthly. Residents generally live on wide streets within a short walk or bike ride from schools, parks and shops.
The pulse of arts and culture
Historical museums and music venues line the downtown thoroughfare of Mission Inn Avenue, named for the historic hotel and spa. “The Mission Inn Hotel and Spa is our most prominent feature,” Hungerford says. Locals use it as a landmark to describe the location of nearby restaurants and attractions, as in, “‘Oh, that’s over by the Mission Inn.’ Everybody knows about it. It’s got the number one Christmas lights show in the country. And the arts scene in Riverside is growing,” Hungerford says. For example, the Riverside Art Museum hosts art classes and workshops to the public, and the Fox Performing Arts Center has showcased live music and theater performances since 1929.Local restaurants, bars and the farmers market
The downtown street grid was designed long before the advent of the automobile, which makes it quite pedestrian-friendly. Every Wednesday, residents gather at Downtown Farmers Market to browse the offerings of local vendors. One of the many Main Street restaurants is Antonious’ Pizza Café, a family-run pizza joint dishing out pizzas, pasta and salads since 1984. For a creative ambiance and a latte, Back to the Grind is an airy local coffeehouse that hosts poetry readings and live music performances. Nightlife options include Aurea Vista Night Club and Bar and Art’s Bar & Grill. Finally, residents can grab groceries from Maxi Foods Market, Los Novillos Market or Clark’s Nutrition & Natural Foods.Large expanse of natural landscape along Santa Ana River
Parks parallel to the Santa Ana River provide residents with picturesque views and opportunities to hike and bike. At the top of Mount Rubidoux Park, Riverside’s annual Easter Sunrise service takes place. This tradition for over a century is the oldest outdoor continuously running non-denominational service in the country. Next to Mount Rubidoux Park, Fairmount Golf Course and Fairmount Park encircle Lake Evans, a popular fishing spot.Walkable downtown & proximity to major highways
There are bike lanes along Market Street and Magnolia Avenue and several bus stops serve the area. Downtown Riverside is bordered by Route 91 and Route 60; at the interchange at the northeast corner of the neighborhood, commuters can use Interstate 215. Riverside Community Hospital is located at the southern edge of the neighborhood and Ontario International Airport is about 15 miles west.Nearby schools and higher education

Central Middle offers an after-school program, PRIMEtime, which allows for academic and social enrichment and support. The area is also served by Lincoln High, rated C-plus.
