From acres of farmland to an expansive suburb
Located in Baltimore’s northeastern region, Rosedale has evolved from acres of farmland to an expansive yet quiet suburb. Desirable for its convenient location and proximity to major thoroughfares, like US-40 and I-95, the community is far enough out for a reprieve from city life while maintaining the ability to join the hype as they see fit. From an eclectic array of housing styles to Blue Ribbon schools and big-box shopping, Rosedale sets residents up for a classic suburban lifestyle if they so choose.

Diverse housing styles after decades of development
After several decades of distinct construction, Rosedale’s housing styles are quite diverse. “There’s something for everybody in Rosedale,” explains Frederick Golding, Realtor with Re/MAX. “You’ll find some very nice Colonials, split foyers and ramblers. But then there are these huge, detached homes well over 4,000 square feet. And you still have two-story red brick row homes.” From neat, square lawns with narrow sidewalks to full-fledged driveways and attached garages, subdivisions often vary by street. Baltimore’s classic townhomes and row homes are more commonly found in the neighborhood's northern region, ranging in price from $150,000 to $400,000. Single-family homes, however, including Cape Cods and Colonial Revivals, range from $250,000 to $600,000.
Rosedale is walking and cycling friendly, with bike lanes and sidewalks on most streets.

Public transportation is a breeze in Rosedale.
Commuting in the DMV
Commuters typically rely on Interstate 95 to reach Baltimore City, a 10-mile trip. Some opt to take Route 40 if traffic is backed up. Baltimore Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport, however, is about 18 miles south on the interstate. The Johns Hopkins Hospital is the closest medical center to Rosedale residents, a 5-mile drive on 40. MTA bus stops are offered along Philadelphia Road and I-95, but locals tend to remain car-dependent. Washington, DC, is accessible via the Baltimore-Washington Parkway, a 45-mile commute. Big box shopping and generational Mom and Pops
Essentials can be shopped at Golden Ring Plaza, nestled at the intersection of Route 40 and I-695. Chain grocery stores like Sam’s Club and Giant neighbor retail outlets like Walmart, Home Depot and Marshalls. The center’s casual fast-food haunts make for a great pit stop on the run, but Philadelphia Style Pizza & Subs is a go-to for carryout dinner. Meanwhile, Kahler’s Crab House has been family-owned since the 1940s and frequented by Rosedale residents for decades. Folks looking to travel a bit farther can head north to White Marsh Mall for department store shopping as well as household names like Target and Lowe’s.

Exploring the county’s green spaces
Rosedale Park’s athletic fields, baseball diamond and playground are ideal for an after-school afternoon. But days spent outside are more often had at Cox’s Point Park, overlooking the Back River. Guests can cast a line on the Cox Point Fishing Pier, launch from the boat ramp or simply enjoy the view from the shoreline. Once a city landfill, Herring Run Park is now a 375-acre green space enveloping Herring Run Stream. Locals can walk and bike along the stream bed or check out the Halls Spring Area, where the playground, basketball court and pedestrian bridge are by far the park’s most popular spots.

Festivities around Charm City
Marylanders know that Pickles Pub is the place to be before and after an O’s game at Camden Yards. But M&T Bank Stadium is known for more than just Ravens games—internationally renowned performers often use it as a concert venue. The Inner Harbor is packed on Independence Day as swarms of locals and out-of-towners gather to watch fireworks over the water. And the same energy carries over at Artscape in August, a three-day festival attracting thousands to appreciate local artists, musicians and food vendors. Between arena shows and unique experiences like Miracle on 34th Street—a walking tour of row homes pompously decorated for the holidays each year—Baltimore City is where most of the action is.
