Growing Roseville suburb not far from the city center

Set just a few miles from downtown Roseville, the master-planned suburb of Junction West has seen a boom in housing construction, as families are drawn to the area’s highly rated school system. Brandon Roth, an owner of the neighborhood’s Golden State TCG (Trading Card Game) shop, describes the community as very tight-knit. “When strangers come into the shop, they leave as part of the family. We actually get to know them and say hi when we see them out and about. That doesn’t happen in other places like Sacramento.” Nearby parks offer recreational opportunities, and shopping centers house locally owned restaurants; name-brand retailers are found near the city center.

Pick-up basketball at Santucci Park

Junction West’s only green space, Santucci Park, is within walking distance of residential streets. Kids can swing on the playground here while teenagers can organize a pick-up full-court basketball game. There are also two soccer fields and picnic areas. Just east of the neighborhood, H.C. Elliot Park offers much the same, only the playground equipment is designed to look like a castle, and its grassy open space is large enough to throw a football around. Mahaney Park sits about 2 miles northeast, featuring a baseball complex for league games, tennis courts, age-appropriate play equipment and the Roseville Aquatic Complex, which houses an Olympic-sized pool.

Rose Café and Bagel is found within Junction West, and offers artisanal bagels, muffins and a variety of drinks in a rustic-chic setting. Other eateries are outside of the neighborhood, including Kitchen 747 to the northwest, where diners can order steak sandwiches or specialty pizzas. Golden State TCG is a local shop that sells Pokémon and Magic cards. “We’re more for collectors,” says Roth, “but we have tables set up for gaming that’s open for everyone. We welcome a lot of kids who come in after school since we sit so close.” Locals can make grocery runs at Raley’s a few miles northeast, or east to Save Mart inside the Foothill Junction shopping center. Big-box stores like Walmart sit to the east of Interstate 80, while retailers and department stores, such as Nordstrom, are found at the Galleria mall roughly 6 miles east of the neighborhood.

Mediterranean- and Spanish-style homes along cul-de-sacs

Cul-de-sacs are lined with early 2000s new traditional Mediterranean-style homes. Most have tile roofs and wide driveways leading to two-car garages; mature trees shade front yards, and a row of shrubbery separates property lines here. Shadowbox fencing encloses backyards. Prices range between $500,000 and $600,000 for up to three bedrooms. New traditional Spanish Revival-style homes built in the 2020s offer up to five bedrooms and three-car garages on larger lots. Many of these are split-level with squared walkways, and range from $780,000 to $1.1 million.

Most of the people I know in this community have lived here all their life and a lot don't plan on leaving. It's one of the greatest places to live and raise a family. It's also very pet friendly. Don't be surprised at the amount of dog parks you see in the area. There is always something going on in the community. An example of this is downtown Tuesdays. This is a community event that involves bands performing and amazing food to eat while walking around shopping.

I've lives in this area my whole life and wouldn't trade it to live somewhere else ever. The crime rate is low and it's an overall safe area to live in. The community is growing both economically and as a population. More and more homes are being built along with schools and this shadows a great future for the community to come.

The weather here is amazing. The spring is very beautiful and colorful along with the fall. Mid spring and summer are the warmest parts of the year. The temperature can reach the low hundreds at times. The fall and winter are my favorite because it doesn't get too cold and it doesn't rain too often. If you want to go to the snow, it's about a 2 hour drive north.

Everyone in this area is extremely friendly. Overall the attractiveness of the area itself seems to rub off on the people living here. don't be afraid to confront someone and make new friends.
