Suburban living near Sacramento
On the eastern edge of the suburb Roseville, about 18 miles from Sacramento, sits the desired neighborhood of Olympus Pointe. The proximity to Interstate 80 gives Olympus Pointe residents the opportunity to commute to work in Sacramento or one of the closer cities of Rocklin or Roseville. “Olympus Pointe is very popular because it’s right across the street from the luxury neighborhood of Granite Bay, but you don’t pay Granite Bay prices,” says Brenda Pieper of Keller Williams Realty, who has over a decade of experience in the area. “You get access to the lake, the Granite Bay schools and really everything else besides the Granite Bay address.”
Homes with pristine yards
There is a mix of tri-level, ranch-style and large contemporary builds in Olympus Pointe. Smaller ranch-style homes begin at just over $550,000 and range up to $700,000, while newer Craftsman builds are in the $800,000 to $950,000 ballpark. “It’s much more affordable than Granite Bay proper and much of the surrounding area,” says Pieper. Houses are located on winding, quiet roads that often lead to private cul-de-sacs. Large front and back yards are common, with plenty of trees and flora decorating the grounds. Homes have multi-car garages, and it’s common to find a private pool in the backyard. The streets are wide and so are the sidewalks, making it easy for jogging or dog walking.
Granite Bay High shines
Kids in Olympus Pointe attend the Eureka Union School District, beginning at Maidu Elementary for grades kindergarten to third grade. Fourth through sixth graders attend Excelsior Elementary, which, along with Maidu, holds an A-minus grade on Niche. Olympus Junior High has an A grade and was ranked the fifth-best school in Placer County. Teens head to A-plus-rated Granite Bay High School, which was named the top high school in the Sacramento area. Granite Bay students can enter the film & media department as an introduction to the industry. The student-run television station has won multiple awards over the past decade.
Fun at Folsom Lake
Olympus Pointe is just a couple of miles away from Folsom Lake, the premiere recreation destination in the area. Residents head to the lake to go boating, fishing and more in the summertime. Granite Bay Beach at nearby Folsom Lake has a sand beach for laying out and a buoyed swimming area with lifeguards on duty. The Folsom Lake State Recreation Area also has some of the best hiking in the area and connects to a 32-mile biking trail that goes into Sacramento. For more fun, locals can head to Olympus Park, located in the neighborhood, which has a playground for children and fields for soccer, football and baseball.
Food off Sierra College Boulevard
Pete’s Restaurant & Brewhouse, with its American classics, and extensive beer list, is a great spot for a relaxing evening out. Pete’s is a comfortable spot to saddle up at a high-top table and watch a game. Other eateries are found along Sierra College Boulevard, where locals can hit Chicago’s Pizza with a Twist, Mario’s Early Toast or Bayside Café. Shopping is convenient as Olympus Pointe has Walmart and Raley’s Grocery in the neighborhood, as well as plenty of retail shops in various strip malls.
Right off I-80
Roseville Transit buses help get locals quickly and easily around Olympus Pointe. The fixed route has frequent stops on Roseville Parkway and Douglas Boulevard. The neighborhood sits just to the east of Interstate 80, which provides quick access to Rocklin and Roseville, as well as Sacramento, Tahoe, and the Bay Area.
GreatSchools:
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

The political climate in my area is pretty stagnant, and gerrymandering has prevented any Democrat from being elected in our district, but things get done as fast as the national government can move these days.
