Large Colonial Revival homes with basements in Easthampton
Renowned homebuilder John Wieland designed Easthampton in the 1990s. “It was one of the last developments he did in the East Cobb area. He was one of the first people in the area to build two-story homes with big foyers,” Miller says. Other standard features in the neighborhood include garages, basements and backyard decks. Easthampton’s Colonial Revival brick homes have up to 4,000 square feet and sell for $680,000 to $910,000. Even larger homes, some with six bedrooms, are priced between $1 million and $1.3 million. Houses stay on the market for an average of 12 days. Residents pay HOA fees that include a $750 initiation and monthly payments ranging from $80 to $100. The neighborhood’s CAP Index Crime Score is 1 out of 10, much lower than the national average score of 4.The Racquet Club hosts weekly tennis drills
Joggers and walkers frequent the paved path at the clubhouse off Kinsmon Drive. The facility has a well-stocked fitness center with cardio and weight equipment. At The Racquet Club, a shaded pavilion overlooks six lighted tennis courts that host weekly tennis drills and frequent Atlanta Lawn Tennis Association matches. The community pool off Waterbury Lane is home to the Easthampton Hurricanes swim team. Grassy areas, a cabana and plenty of charcoal grills make for pleasant poolside cookouts and social gatherings among neighbors. The nearby lakeside playground has a basketball court and climbing structures along a wall of trees.Walton High is among the best schools in Georgia
The neighborhood is part of the Cobb County School District, which gets an A rating on Niche. Students may attend Mount Bethel Elementary School and Dodgen Middle School, both A-rated. Walton High School, which Niche rates an A-plus, has over 30 AP courses and is ranked the fourth-best high school in Georgia by U.S. News & World Report. Once a week, the three-hour Walton Enrichment Block allows students to get tutoring, attend club meetings or take make-up tests. An intensive Spanish academy was formed in partnership with Spain’s Ministry of Education. Walton’s clubs range from graphic design to robotics, while its fine arts programs like drama and band regularly place in state competitions. Georgia’s school choice policies allow students to attend schools outside their zoned assignments.Interstate 285 connects drivers to Atlanta
Roswell Road travels west over East Cobb’s border and 5 miles east into downtown Roswell. Interstate 285, which loops around Atlanta, intersects 10 miles south with the major north-south routes of Highway 400 and I-75. “It’s a convenient location to get anywhere in Atlanta no matter where your work takes you,” Miller says. Cobb County International Airport is 14 miles west, while Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport is a 30-mile drive from the neighborhood. Wellstar Kennestone Northside Hospital is 11 miles to the west.Camaraderie at Easthampton’s lakeside clubhouse
The Easthampton clubhouse hosts community events throughout the year. With a TV, full kitchen and bar, residents gather there to watch a game or movie. A covered deck with tables overlooks the lake. “It’s a community-oriented neighborhood with a ton of activities to get involved with and meet people,” Miller says.Avenue East Cobb buzzes with restaurants and shops
It's less than a mile to Avenue East Cobb’s collection of restaurants and shops. Tin Lizzy’s Cantina is popular for its tacos and margaritas, while Luga Italian Eatery’s one-page menu ranges from pizza to pasta. Locals enjoy a range of drink options here, from Round Trip Brewing Company's beer to Kale Me Crazy's smoothies. There are clothing boutiques, high-end furniture shops and specialty stores like Elo Vegan Lifestyle that sell soap made of sustainable materials. Just west of the shopping center on Johnson Ferry Road, big-box options range from Target to Dick’s Sporting Goods. Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods are just a mile away.
