Breakers West
Suburban Neighborhood in Royal Palm Beach, Florida
Palm Beach County 33411
Natural landscape is enhanced by Breakers West, Mayacoo Lakes golf courses
Residents enjoy walkability in the 670-acre community that doubles as a bit of a wildlife sanctuary, complemented by a collection of man-made lakes and enhanced by the golf courses at Breakers West Country Club and Mayacoo Lakes Country Club. They are the area’s biggest draw, according to Marki Flurschutz, a local assistant golf professional at Mayacoo Lakes, one of the first golf courses designed by PGA legend Jack Nicklaus. Club membership does not come with home ownership. In addition to golf, both country clubs feature swimming pools, athletic courts and on-site dining. Breakers West offers a renovated fitness center, and Mayacoo Lakes has men’s and women’s card rooms. The community is affiliated with The Breakers, a well-known luxury resort on the West Palm Beach waterfront a little more than 10 miles away. Residents get discounted rates to use the resort’s amenities, including its private beach. iThink Financial Amphitheater, a popular venue at the nearby South Florida Fairgrounds, provides an entertaining respite from the daily activities of community living.Mediterranean motif is prominent among diversity of architectural styles
While the Mediterranean motif is prominent here, architectural diversity is spread throughout the community’s 14 neighborhoods. Ranch, Spanish Mission, Victorian, Tudor and modern styles are represented. Prices vary widely as well. Homes on smaller lots range in price from under $500,000 to around $1 million. Larger lots feature homes priced from $1.25 million to about $2.5 million. Estate-style homes typically range from $3 million to $4 million. HOA fees range from $458 to $1,082 a month. “Once somebody gets in there, they tend not to leave,” Bradshaw says, “So the market is a little tighter than in other communities.” The neighborhood’s inland location protects it from flooding. However, wind damage can be a major risk during hurricane season.King’s Academy K-12 is a popular private option
Educational options are highlighted by The King’s Academy, a private K-12 Christian institution adjacent to the community that was named a National Blue Ribbon school in 2014. It earns an A-plus from Niche. Palm Beach County public options include Benoist Farms Elementary and Jeaga Middle, both C-rated schools, and Royal Palm Beach Community High, a B-rated International Baccalaureate school. South University’s West Palm Beach campus is located in the neighborhood, next to Mayacoo Lakes Country Club.Easy access to downtown West Palm Beach, oceanfront
Buses run regular routes along Okeechobee Boulevard and Belvedere Road, which border the community. Okeechobee Boulevard provides direct access to local points of interest, including downtown West Palm Beach. U.S. Highway 441 is located just west of the neighborhood, and the Florida Turnpike is a short drive east. Interstate 95 and Palm Beach International Airport are within 8 miles. Wellington Regional Medical Center is 5 miles from the community, and residents also have access to additional medical services in case of emergency. “A unique thing about Breakers West is that it has 24-hour security with EMS personnel on staff, so you essentially have a medic on call,” Bradshaw says.Bimini Twist, Morgan's Country Kitchen are popular dining stops nearby
A concentration of stores is located in and around U.S. Highway 441, which forms the neighborhood’s western border. Big-box retailers Target and Walmart are just minutes away. Nearby dining options include Bimini Twist, an established family-run seafood restaurant, and Morgan’s Country Kitchen, a hidden gem serving hearty comfort food favorites for breakfast and lunch.
