These properties also offer quite a bit of land, so there’s better separation between homes.”
San Juan Unified School District serves the community and offers a lottery system for school choice. Del Paso Manor Elementary is a highly rated school located at the center of the neighborhood, attracting many young families to the area. “It’s very much a neighborhood school, and we sponsor community nights, book fairs, and so much more,” says Kim Dillis, who works at Del Paso Manor Elementary. “The school is tucked into a residential area, so kids easily walk to school, and you can see neighbors walking their dogs when we're out on recess.”
Bordering the neighborhood to the northwest is the Del Paso Country Club, which opened in 1916 and has a private 18-hole golf course. You can also get a membership at the nearby Del Norte athletic club, which offers indoor and outdoor pools, along with pickleball and tennis courts. Some families take their kids to the playgrounds at Del Paso Manor Elementary, while others visit Orville Wright Park for more playgrounds and a sand volleyball court.
Commuters can reach downtown Sacramento in under 10 miles using state Route 160 or Interstate 80. The trip usually takes between 20 and 40 minutes, depending on traffic conditions. To bypass highways, you can drive less than 5 miles to the Marconi/Arcade park-and-ride light rail station and take the Blue Line into downtown.
