Master-planned community with golf course access and investment opportunities
Set about 8 miles south of downtown Sacramento, the master-planned community of Golf Course Terrace offers more than what is in its name. True, the 27-hole Bing Maloney Golf Complex is a large and welcomed presence here, but so too is the 32-acre William Chorley Park and the overall affordability of the area. Many homes here sell for under $500,000 and can be rented out. “This is one of the neighborhood’s main draws,” says Mark McDonough, Realtor with Coldwell Banker Realty who’s been selling in the area for 11 years. “Plus, they like being close to the freeway and downtown.” He says even though the Sacramento Executive Airport is close by, locals get used to the noise.
World language classes at Luther Burbank High School
Local kids can attend Sacramento City Unified district schools, including H.W. Harkness Elementary, which receives a C from Niche, and C-rated Rosa Parks serving kindergarten through Grade 8. At B-minus-rated Luther Burbank High, students can enroll in the Hmong Language Program. Hmong is a group of Southeast Asian and Southern Chinese tonal languages, and Burbank High is the only Sacramento regional school offering this world language program with four levels of study.
H. W. Harkness Elementary School serves students from Pre-K through the 5th grade.
Residents of Parkway are served by Luther Burbank High School.

Two types of golf bordering a huge park
Greenspaces span a wide swath of the neighborhood. “Even though they’re large, they’re very secluded,” says Realtor Tyson Redmond of Re/Max Gold Sierra Oaks, who’s lived in the area for over 20 years. “The exclusivity of these parks is a major draw to the area.” The 27-hole Bing Maloney golf course here is open to the public, with prices ranging from $30 to $75 depending on the day and time. It also has a 40-bay driving range and a place to eat. To the south, the roughly 32-acre William Chorley Park features a soccer pitch and a kids’ playground. A wading pool and picnic areas are also here. An 18-hole disc golf course borders the park to the north, with paths winding among groves of oak and cottonwood trees.
27 holes make Golf Course Terrace a great neighborhood to live in for fans of the game.

Downtown wine festival
Every September, the west steps of Sacramento’s capitol building downtown hosts the Legends of Wine Festival, featuring popular varietals from regional wineries. Locals can taste and then buy glasses or bottles of wine to enjoy at cocktail tables. Area restaurants provide samples of their farm-to-fork cuisine and live piano music plays during the three-hour event. Tickets are $75 per person.
Sandwiches at Maloney’s Grille
Maloney’s Grille, located at the Bing Maloney golf course, serves handhelds like their well-known pork breakfast burritos and offers outdoor seating. At the corner of Florin Road and Freeport Boulevard, Maggy’s Tacos, a pop-up service, sells Tex-Mex fare to go. In the neighborhood’s southeastern corner, Florin Square Shopping Center offers locally owned businesses, fast-food joints and Mi Rancho Supermercado, a Hispanic grocery store. Delta Shores shopping mall, 5 miles south of the neighborhood, features big-box stores, including Walmart, and national retailers like Old Navy.
For those in the know, Golf Course Terrace is home to Maggy's Tacos stand in the evenings.

Ranch-style homes along sidewalk-lined streets
The neighborhood’s ranch-style homes sit along sidewalk-lined streets laid out in a grid pattern. Built between the late 1950s and early ‘60s, these three-to-four-bedroom homes, some L-shaped, typically feature cross-gabled roofs, shaded front porches and driveways leading to two-car garages; front yards are shaded by mature oak and palm trees here, while backyards are large enough for a shed, and are enclosed by either wooden shadowbox or chain link fences. Home sizes range from about 980 to 2,800 square feet, which determines the price range of $350,000 to $680,000.
Some of the ranch-style homes have been updated with stucco siding in Golf Course Terrace.

The UC Davis Medical Center is 6 miles northeast and Sacramento Executive Airport, a general aviation facility with over 30 aviation-related businesses onsite, is right next to the neighborhood.
