Suburban living
Just a couple of miles from downtown Sacramento, Hollywood Park is a neighborhood on the rise. “Specifically, Hollywood Park has been an up-and-coming neighborhood,” says local Realtor Shelby Ryburn of M.O.R.E. Real Estate Group, who has over 15 years of experience in the area. “It hasn’t been much of an attraction historically, but it has been growing in popularity as folks in the neighborhoods of Land Park and Curtis Park have been expanding their footprint.” One of Hollywood Park’s defining traits is its ability to feel like a secluded suburb while being just moments from some of Sacramento’s largest attractions. “You’re five minutes from Old Sac and the Golden 1 Center for Kings games and concerts,” says David Allerman, the office and attendance clerk at Hollywood Park Elementary. “Inside the actual neighborhood, it doesn’t have hustle and bustle, and you can forget you’re basically in the city.” Although it has a quiet feel, the neighborhood’s location makes it easy for commuters to be downtown in just minutes.
Near Land Park
Despite its name, there are no actual parks in Hollywood Park, but plenty of recreation can be found just northwest in the Land Park neighborhood. “It’s so close that we can walk to Land Park for field trips,” says Allerman. The massive William Land Regional Park is home to a pair of amusement parks. Funderland Amusement Park has been open since 1946 and has traditional amusement park rides and attractions, while Fairytale Town has 26 playsets based on nursery rhymes, performing art stages for plays and a petting zoo. For more animals, the Sacramento Zoo is also on the property, which has over 400 species for visitors to learn about. William Land Golf Course, right next to the zoo, is a 9-hole course with a driving range. For more lowkey fun, Mangan Park is just south of Hollywood Park and has a playground for children, basketball hoops and green open space.

Midcentury homes
Most of the homes in Hollywood Park were built in the 1950s, and the housing stock in the area is predominantly one-story bungalows and ramblers. Homes are located on neat, residential streets and have attached garages for easy parking. The lots themselves are on the smaller side, so homes are clustered quite closely together. Most have modest yards, and the streets are lined with wide sidewalks for exercise and dog walking. Houses start at just over $400,000 and range to just under $700,000. Noise may be a factor, as the Sacramento Executive Airport sits just south of the neighborhood.
Most homes in Hollywood Park are single story homes with detached garages.

Dining on Freeport
There are plenty of dining options on Freeport Boulevard, which borders the neighborhood to the west and is walkable from some houses. Da Fei Ge is a popular Chinese restaurant, while The Izakaya Japanese is a nice place for a date night. Roberta’s Cocina and Lalo’s are options for authentic Mexican cuisine, and Oto’s Marketplace is a Japanese grocer with sushi and bento take-out. Raley’s and Safeway also have locations just up the road in Land Park. For retail, there are various strip malls in the area providing shopping options.

Between two highways
The proximity to major highways is one of the reasons Hollywood Park is so desired. Interstates 5 and 80 are only minutes away, making it easy to commute to other areas in Northern California. Downtown Sacramento is just two miles away, while Stockton and Sonoma are within 45 to 75 minutes, depending on traffic. For local transportation, residents can hop on Sacramento Regional Transit buses, which have fixed routes with frequent stops along Fruitridge Road, which cuts right through the middle of Hollywood Park.
GreatSchools:
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

I don't think much really attracts people to this area besides nearby camping and relatives in the area. San Fransisco is more of a tourist destination.

Public transportation in this area is relatively convenient. Parking can sometimes be a problem in certain areas of downtown.

Crime is pretty bad in parts of town. My neighborhood is better but still not the safest.
