Project-based experiences at Rosemont High School
Kids may attend Sacramento City Unified district schools, including Isador Cohen Elementary, which earns a C from Niche and is culturally and racially diverse, offering instruction to students from non-English speaking families. Albert Einstein Middle earns a B-minus from Niche and has a robotics competition team and a media production elective class. The El Dorado Freeway is a mile south, leading 11 miles west to Downtown Sacramento. Folsom Boulevard is the neighborhood’s main thoroughfare, running diagonally from southwest to northeast. Interstate 80 sits about 10 miles north; it leads further west to the San Francisco Bay Area and northeast toward Reno. Running alongside Folsom Boulevard is the Sacramento Transit light rail system that carries passengers downtown. Its buses serve the area, but most residents here use their cars to get around. Bike lanes skirt a handful of residential streets, and bike-friendly trails border the American River. Riviera East Park, located near residential streets and the Mira Del Rio Drive River access point, offers two playgrounds, picnic areas and tennis courts amidst a myriad of trees. Residents can also play basketball here – on the only public court in the neighborhood – and rent out the park for parties. Fourteen-acre Larchmont Community Park is popular with pickleball players, and kids can use the large open space for football or frisbee. The park also has picnic areas and a multi-use baseball and softball field. Kayakers and anglers can head to Gristmill Recreation Area on the southern bank of the American River to access the water; hikers can hit the trails here and families can enjoy barbecues.

American fare and karaoke at Brookside Restaurant and Bar
Family-owned and chain eateries sit along Folsom Boulevard and the nearby El Dorado Freeway. Brookside Restaurant and Bar serves burgers, specialty sandwiches and entrees like ribeye in a wooden, rustic setting. Live music, karaoke and game nights take place during the week, and the venue can be rented out for special events. Pho Bac Hoa Viet offers traditional Vietnamese fare like rice noodle soup and chow mein. Toward the west, Glenbrook Shopping Center has fast-food joints and health and beauty businesses, while shoppers can find department stores 4 miles northeast at the Rancho Cordova Town Center. Grocery stores include Korean Smile Market and a Safeway about 6 miles northwest of the neighborhood.

Drive-in movies and go-karts
For date night, couples can head about a mile south to the retro West Wind Sacramento 6 Drive-In movie theater to watch new releases. Concessions such as popcorn, candy, hot dogs and adult beverages are available here, and every Tuesday, Family Fun Nights offer reduced ticket prices. Go-karters can zoom around the indoor track at K-1 Speed, then enjoy arcade games or hang out at the bar. The venue is available to rent out for a birthday party or corporate team-building events.
