A growing neighborhood

Just a few miles east of downtown Sacramento, Rosemont is a growing neighborhood with plenty of development in the works. “There has been a lot of commercial development and remodeling and additions to restaurants and shops,” says Matthew Hindy of Nick Sadek Sotheby’s International Realty, who has been selling homes in Sacramento for over 10 years. “It used to be a lot of mom-and-pop shops in the area, but as we’ve grown a lot of national brands have come from out of town.” Rosemont serves as a comfortable neighborhood for commuters who can easily take Route 60 into Sacramento. “People appreciate how close we are to major highways without them running directly through the neighborhood,” says Hindy.

Cookie cutter homes

Homes in Rosemont range from just under $400,000 to $550,000 depending on year built and condition. “It’s a very matured and very cookie cutter area,” says Hindy. “For the most part, you are going to get one-story, single-family homes that have three-bedrooms and are affordable compared to neighboring communities.” Most of the houses were built between 1970 and 1990 and are located off quiet residential streets. The homes feature multi-car garages for private parking and well-manicured lawns. Streets tend to lead to quiet cul-de-sacs and are flanked by wide sidewalks, which are convenient for dog owners. While ranch-style homes are the dominant house type, there are a few tri-levels in the area as well.

Solid school district

Kids in Rosemont attend the Sacramento City Unified School District, beginning at Golden Empire Elementary School. Golden Empire was named a Niche Standout Elementary School and noted as having one of the most diverse student populations in the state. Next is Albert Einstein Middle School, before Rosemont High, which was established in 2003. All three schools received an overall B grade from Niche, with A marks in student diversity. Rosemont also has private options, like Jesuit High School, which owns an A-plus overall grade.

Playing at Granite Regional Park

There are plenty of recreational opportunities in Rosemont, beginning at Granite Regional Park. The giant complex has a skate park, multi-purpose fields and a dog park so Fido can get some exercise. Rosemont Community Park has a large playground for children as well as tennis courts, a butterfly garden and youth sports fields. The neighborhood features plenty of other smaller neighborhood parks with open space and playground equipment. Golfers can head to the Cordova Golf Course for 18 holes, while The Rink is a fun spot for roller skating. For an old time movie experience, the West Wind Sacramento 6 Drive In is a fun spot to check out the newest blockbusters.

Dining at Ippolito's and Oz

Diners have plenty of options, as Rosemont is home to plenty of culinary styles. Ippolito’s Trattoria has classic Italian fare in a relaxed atmosphere, while Oz Korean BBQ is great for a night out with friends. Other eateries include classic American diners, Mexican and Vietnamese options. The Grocery Outlet off of Bradshaw Road makes it convenient to stock up on items for the week, while the many antique shops in the neighborhood are great for an afternoon of perusing old treasures. With the influx of big box stores in the area, there are plenty of convenient shopping options.

Quick access to Route 50

Rosemont is served by Sacramento Regional Transit, which provides a light rail service all over the city. In addition, there are fixed bus routes that cater specifically to Rosemont. Bus stops are frequent along Folsom Boulevard and Bradshaw Road. A single ticket is $2.50 for adults, or $100 for a monthly pass. Commuters can utilize Route 50 to quickly get to Sacramento and access Interstate 5.

This area is okay when it comes to safety. I always carry mace and a rape whistle just in case something does happen to me, but it's pretty quiet.
