A popular choice for residential living close to the city
Tahoe Park in central Sacramento is well-known for its residential vibe and convenient proximity to various nearby amenities. The neighborhood sits near Highway 50 and large employers like Sacramento State University, SMUD (the local utility) and large hospitals. "Tahoe Park has an incredible location, great lots, classic homes and reasonable price points," sums up Tom Leonard, a realtor with Coldwell Banker Realty who has many years of experience in the area. "To me, this is why Tahoe Park will continue its trajectory. It's been a popular destination for the last decade, and I don't see that changing anytime soon." With property values on the rise and new development coming to the area, the quiet residential community of Tahoe Park is one of the most up-and-coming Sacramento locales.

Green yards and competitive home prices
Most of the architecture in Tahoe Park consists of bungalows and California ranch homes built in the mid-1900s. Home sizes are smaller than Sacramento's average, ranging from around 1,000 to 1,300 square feet, with two to three bedrooms and one bath. Prices start around $400,000 for fixer-uppers and get up to about $600,000 for newly renovated properties. In years past, Tahoe Park was considered a more affordable place to live, but with a resurgence in interest in the area, home prices now sit equal to the Sacramento median. "I always tell buyers that homes here are a good investment," says Susan Lawrence-Nunley of Birdie Real Estate. The streets of Tahoe Park are lined with residential sidewalks, and street parking is easy, an alternative to the more urban neighborhoods on the other side of the Freeway. "It's common to spot orange, lemon and plum trees in many of the yards in Tahoe Park," Lawrence-Nunley adds.
