Westwood Hills
Spacious midcentury homes
Beyond the new custom constructions and midcentury moderns full of character, Westwood Hills also features many ranch-style homes and split-level houses. The median home price in St. Louis Park is about $360,000, but Westwood Hills homes can range from around $200,000 to over $600,000. The wide price range reflects the range of house sizes found throughout Westwood Hills, from comfortable ranch-style houses to spacious multi-level homes sitting on over a quarter-acre of land.Westwood Hills Nature Center and private golfing
“Westwood Hills has a nature center that’s a huge draw,” says Susan Melbye, a Realtor with Edina Realty, Inc. “There are lots of educational programs and you can have children’s birthday parties at the center.” The nature center preserves 160 acres of woodlands, prairie and marsh as a natural habitat for local wildlife. There are also 3 miles of trails and boardwalk that circle Westwood Lake and create wildlife viewing opportunities for visitors. The zero-energy-certified interpretive center hosts classes, camps and volunteer events for the community throughout the year. While the nature center doesn’t have a traditional playground area, it’s a great place to watch for wildlife or enjoy a serene walk in the heart of St. Louis Park. Members of the Minneapolis Golf Club can book a tee time on their 18-hole course, or enjoy dinner on the outdoor patio overlooking the greens.St. Louis Park Public Schools
The St. Louis Park Middle School is just east of Westwood Hills. Students can join the talent development program or English learner program in this National School of Excellence institution. Before that, students might attend Aquila Elementary School, which has a B overall Niche grade. After St. Louis Park middle, students will go to St. Louis Park Senior High School, an A-minus Niche rated school offering various clubs and activities ranging from a Dungeons and Dragons club to Esports and many more.Proximity to retail and restaurants
St. Louis Park is known for its shopping centers, and Westwood Hills residents are conveniently placed for dining and shopping. The Shops at West End host many familiar retail chains, along with Yard House, a hip sports bar with plenty of beers on tap and pub fare to sample. Parking at the West End is heated and underground, which is a major convenience when catching dinner and a movie in the winter. Other must-try restaurants are just south of Westwood Hills, like Angel Food, a bakery with brightly colored cupcakes and deliciously creative donut flavors. Wok in the Park is another St. Louis Park legend. It’s a great spot to order takeout, but you may need to in line to find a table at this popular Asian fusion eatery.Easy highway access
While Westwood Hills has a tucked-away feeling in the northwest of St. Louis Park, it’s still easy to reach the city’s major shopping centers, the Cedar Lake Regional Trail and neighborhood parks. Interstate 394 takes residents straight past the stunning chain of lakes in Southwest Minneapolis to downtown for upscale shopping, award-winning dining and an inspiring arts scene.
