Luxury Victorian homes next-door to the Minnesota governor
Summit Hill residents could count Minnesota's governor as a neighbor. While the opulent governor's residence outshines most of the surrounding buildings, elegant, stately living in well-preserved historic mansions is still on the table. Summit Hill holds many Victorian houses, the majority original to when the neighborhood was built. Very few buildings have been constructed since the 1920s, maintaining Summit Hill's 1800s atmosphere. Prices start at $100,000 for a one-bed, one-bath co-op. A four-bedroom Victorian will be in the $400,000-500,000 range, while grander, mansion-like historic homes are priced from $1.3M up to $2M. Spacious luxury condos can go for near $900,000.
Artisan groceries just down the street from historic homes
Grand Avenue has a high-end main street feel with upscale boutiques occupying both commercial properties and converted Victorian houses. Fine dining and gourmet grocers share sidewalk space with spas and art galleries. South of Grand Ave, the rows of houses are more snugly spaced, but are luxurious nonetheless. Find townhouses and condominium options throughout the neighborhood. Summit Hill's reputation for luxury carries into its everyday living experience. The neighborhood grocery stores carry gourmet and specialty products. Golden Fig Fine Foods offers exclusively American-made artisan foods. Seasoned Specialty Food Market carries local produce, meats, and grains along with ready-to-make meal kits and fresh made deli options.

Down the street, sister businesses Café Latte and Bread & Chocolate serve gourmet goods. Café Latte's combination bakery, cafeteria, and pizza and wine bar make it a go-to any time of the day. Residents come together for street festivals
Find inflatable obstacle courses, live music, food trucks, and an archery range at the annual Summit Hill Fall Festival, a weekend of community camaraderie. Or, join neighbors at the Citywide Spring Cleanup collecting litter in honor of Earth Day. Summit Avenue is the longest avenue of Victorian homes in the country. Take a stroll along this prestigious avenue, noting in particular the Burbank Livingston Griggs Mansion or Chauncey and Martha Griggs House as excellent examples of the historic architecture. To go inside one of these buildings, book a tour of the Minnesota Governor's Residence or the St. Paul College Club. Grand Old Day, one of the Midwest's largest street festivals, was canceled during the pandemic but returned to Grand Avenue in June 2023.
