Quiet suburbia near the beach and downtown St. Pete
Sandwiched in the middle of sandy beaches and a vibrant downtown in St. Petersburg is Eagle Crest. The leafy suburb sits a few miles east of Gulf beaches and is 6 miles from the area’s most popular shopping, dining and entertainment. "St. Pete has some pretty cool neighborhoods, and Eagle Crest is one of them," says Don Killam, broker for Dalton Wade Real Estate Group and a St. Petersburg resident for over 40 years. “It has a great location. It’s one of the most convenient neighborhoods in the area; head down Pasadena Avenue, and you're at the beaches in 10 minutes." Beyond urban convenience, Eagle Crest attracts newcomers with its eclectic mix of architecture and red-brick streets.

A mix of midcentury modern homes, Colonial and Spanish revivals
Niche ranked Eagle Crest among the top 10 neighborhoods in St. Petersburg with the lowest cost of living and in the top 30 for young professionals. (It's worth noting, however, that 29% of Eagle Crest residents are over 65, which is higher than the 19% U.S. average.) The community's original brick streets and granite curbs are lined with towering, centuries-old oaks and palms. Eagle Crest is also known for its architectural diversity, with Spanish and Colonial revival styles next to Frank Lloyd Wright-esque midcentury moderns and traditional ranch-style homes. "It's not a cookie-cutter neighborhood,” says Killam. “I've been in some unique homes back in there. A client told me that Eagle Crest was the only neighborhood she wanted because of its architecture. The architecture is the big thing there." Many homes were built in the early 1950s and range from the high-$200,000s for a two-bedroom over 1,000 square feet to the mid-$800,000s for a four-bedroom over 2,600 square feet. Multi-car garages and spacious driveways are common. The median lot size is just under 1/4 acre. Some higher-end homes have fenced-in, resort-style backyards with pools. Eagle Crest is extremely bikeable and walkable, with wide sidewalks and paths that meander throughout the community.
A mid-century modern home that would make Frank Lloyd Wright proud in Eagle Crest.
The Spanish style home is rich in original Eagle Crest history.
Eagle Crest still maintains the traditional red brick streets and granite curbs.
