Forested neighborhood miles away from beaches and Downtown St. Pete
Though it lacks the historic vibe of neighboring downtown St. Pete, there is a lot of value to be found in the small, tree-filled neighborhood of Lake Pasadena. “You’re still paying St. Pete prices, but you are getting more for your money than you would in the historic neighborhoods closer to downtown,” says Taylor Welch, a local Realtor at Compass Florida LLC with over $52 million in sales. “For the same price, you’re getting a three-bedroom, two-bath home with 200 to 300 extra square feet instead of a two-bedroom, one-bath home. So in that sense, it’s more affordable.”

Spacious home lots with a range of architectural styles
Home prices typically range from $300,000 to $800,000. Streets are lined with ranch-style homes on spacious lots and midcentury-modern bungalows, noticeable for their angular designs and open floor plans. Multi-story renovated homes and contemporary builds have architectural styles as varied as bungalows and Spanish-revivals, adding to the housing market’s stylistic diversity.

Expansive green spaces and eco-friendly pathways
While the beach is nearby, the neighborhood has a relatively low flood risk. Strong storms are still common in the area, and Tampa Bay cities have invested millions in preventative infrastructure. Lake Pasadena's verdant landscape gives it more of a country atmosphere than the surrounding beach communities. That country atmosphere is home to Bear Creek Park, which, while featuring a small ballfield and a playground, is mainly known as a tranquil green space where residents enjoy walks alongside Bear Creek. Locals are often seen jogging or cycling along the Pinellas Trail. “That’s a big draw – the ease of being able to hop on the trail and ride,” says Welch. Cyclists can be downtown in 30 minutes, taking the ecologically protected pathway running north through Clearwater to Tarpon Springs.

Diners and markets along Central Avenue
Central Avenue is well-known around St. Petersburg for its range of local shops and diners, even in suburbs like Lake Pasadena. The Crumb Factory is one of those options, a highly rated café dishing out baked goods and breakfast and lunch staples. More established options include Dead Bob’s Bar, an Old Florida-style spot offering a range of pub grub and brews on tap. Earth Origins Market is a grocery store along Central Avenue specializing in health-conscious foods and to-go meals.

Close to the beaches and downtown St. Pete thanks to Central Avenue
Part of Lake Pasadena’s draw is that the home values come with a convenient location. “You’re close to the beaches, and you have a whole different set of amenities than you would on the east side,” says Welch. Instead of the busy downtown waterfront, residents have quick access to the laidback environs of Treasure Island and the Gulf of Mexico less than 3 miles away via Central Avenue, which forms the neighborhood's southern edge. Central Avenue also puts residents within six miles of Downtown Petersburg.
