Millville blends quiet streets with commercial convenience
Millville is a neighborhood in Salem, New Hampshire, characterized by a blend of residential and commercial elements. Anchored by Route 28—a bustling commercial artery—the area combines the convenience of nearby shopping and dining with a comfortable, suburban atmosphere. “Millville is mostly residential, but it’s still part of the core of Salem, which is more commercial,” says Realtor and Salem resident Jim Harvey of Keller Williams Realty Metropolitan, who adds that the area serves as a bedroom community for Boston due to its location. “It’s right off Interstate 93 just over the Massachusetts border.”
Millville’s housing includes older homes and new developments
Millville’s housing landscape features a mix of residential subdivisions tucked behind the bustling commercial corridor along Route 28, creating a distinctly suburban atmosphere. Homebuyers will find a variety of options, including Cape Cods, split-level homes, older ranch-style properties and classic New England cottages, with prices for single-family homes typically ranging from $460,000 to $700,000. Condominiums are also available, generally priced between $350,000 and $605,000. A few newer developments offer contemporary homes that can fetch prices up to $1.25 million, reflecting the area’s blend of established neighborhoods and ongoing growth.

Millville puts residents close to a variety of recreational opportunities. Field of Dreams is a local park that offers a wooden playground, along with walking and fitness trails. “It’s great for people who want to get outside with their dogs,” Harvey says. “There’s a brand-new outdoor stage where concerts are held in the summertime.” The park also hosts movie nights during the summer. Michele Memorial Park provides athletic facilities, including baseball fields, tennis and pickleball courts, a playground and a large open field suitable for soccer. World End Pond in the center of the neighborhood has a boat launch for kayaks and canoes. Trails snake through Salem Town Forest, a 200-acre, dog-friendly park with 3.4 miles of hiking and biking trails. The Salem Rail Trail is another popular destination known for its multi-use trail that extends 5 miles across Salem.
The Mall at Rockingham Park and Tuscan Village anchors retail options
Millville provides various shopping and dining options, with much of the area’s commerce concentrated along Route 28. Retail choices include multiple plazas, big-box stores and The Mall at Rockingham Park, which hosts retailers such as Macy’s, Talbots and Anthropologie. Dining options range from New England cuisine at The Copper Door to Italian dishes at Trattoria Amalfi. Tuscan Village is a newer development that features restaurants like The Capital Grille and Salt & Straw ice cream, as well as amenities including markets, medical offices and entertainment venues. “One of the original retailers in the Rockingham Mall is in the process of being redeveloped into a casino,” Harvey says, adding that the Tuscan Village overall has brought a lot of development and commercial transformation in a concentrated space. “There’s been a lot of growth in the area.” Market Basket serves grocery needs and operates three stores within two miles of Route 28.
