Paris, a Realtor with Keller Williams City View. “This side was also one of the fastest-growing areas in San Antonio because of its highway access and proximity to military bases.” Kriewald Place is less than 10 miles from the Lackland Air Force Base, which is part of Joint Base San Antonio and hosts more than 24,000 active-duty members.

Suburban neighborhood with traditional single-family homes

Kriewald Place features neo-traditional homes built from the early 2000s through the 2010s. Homebuyers will find a mix of single-story and two-story properties with three or four bedrooms. Most houses have neutral facades, attached garages and fenced-in backyards with room for a small patio or pool. Prices typically range from $200,000 for smaller single-story homes to $315,000 for larger two-story houses. “Generally, this part of the city is good for first-time homebuyers,” Paris says. HOA membership is mandatory, and residents must pay monthly HOA fees that typically range between approximately $20 and $30.

Northside ISD has a STEM-focused magnet program at John Jay High School

The neighborhood is part of the Northside Independent School District. Younger kids may attend Mary Lou Fisher Elementary School, which scores a B from Niche, or Mary Burns Michael Elementary School, which receives a C-plus. Sam Rayburn Middle School earns a C, and John Jay High School has a C-plus. High schoolers can apply to the John Jay Science and Engineering Academy and gain hands-on experience in computer science, engineering, biomedical science, and robotics. Nearby private schools include Royal Point Academy, a Christian institution serving prekindergarten through fourth grade.

The neighborhood is entirely residential. The closest businesses are Dollar General and the Bear Shack, a small snack bar less than a mile away along Kriewald Road. When it’s time to run errands, residents can head about 4 miles northeast to the Westlakes shopping plaza. It features H-E-B plus! and fast-food chains such as Chick-fil-A, Taco Cabana and Pho 88. It also has local restaurants like Jalisco Grill and Tropicana Ice Cream, known for its frozen Mexican treats like paletas and mangonadas. Beyond its sidewalk-lined streets, the neighborhood is primarily car-dependent. Kriewald Place sits between major thoroughfares such as Loop 1604, U.S. Route 90 and Interstate 410. U.S. Route 90 offers a direct route to downtown San Antonio, about an 18-mile drive away. For flights, San Antonio International Airport is around 20 miles from the neighborhood. Residents are also 20 miles or less from major employers such as Toyota Motor Manufacturing Texas and Boeing Company’s Global Services & Support San Antonio business unit. The nearest medical center is CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital – Westover Hills, about 6 miles north of Kriewald Place.
