Emerging neighborhood with delicious restaurants

Located just west of downtown San Antonio, local restaurants give an authentic flavor to the residential neighborhood of Loma Vista. “Loma Vista is an emerging residential area with a family-friendly atmosphere, featuring numerous small, independently owned eateries,” says Sandra Uribe, a Realtor with Keller Williams Heritage, who has sold homes in the neighborhood for nine years. This small, rectangular-shaped community features families that stay in the area for generations. Residents here have easy access to nearby parks and attractions. “Woodlawn Lake Park provides an excellent venue for strolls and hosts exciting city events,” Uribe says. “Nearby educational institutions include Our Lady of the Lake University and St. Mary’s University, all conveniently situated in close proximity to downtown.” In addition to the parks, attractions and colleges, residents are conveniently located near the Neighborhood Place, a local nonprofit that offers financial classes, counseling, a computer lab and GED certification.

Home on the ranch

Homes in Loma Vista are typically built close together on city streets laid out in a grid, giving the neighborhood an urban feel. Most houses are modest ranch-style homes with wood siding, although some have stone facades. Some homes have driveways, but there are very few garages. Many houses were built in the 1940s and 1950s and have been renovated with modern features. There are also several new builds in the neighborhood. An older house under 1,000 square feet can cost between $120,000 and $200,000. The new construction homes in the community typically cost around $250,000 for 1,200 square feet.
