A lively community south of downtown
Homebuyers can walk, bike and paddle along the San Antonio River to explore all that SoFlo has to offer. With the river in the center of the neighborhood and plenty of shopping and dining to the east, this community has much to discover. "I think the fact that it borders King William is huge. Everybody wants to be near King William," says Elizabeth Lutz, a Realtor with King William Realty who has sold homes in the area. "It's a very walkable, lively area. If you live on South Flores, you can hop on a bike or walk, and you're right there, but you're paying a fraction of the price for a home." SoFlo residents have plenty of popular restaurants on the neighborhood's east side, ranging from oyster bars to classic Tex-Mex restaurants. The river provides plenty of scenic beauty and recreation, making SoFlo a well-rounded community for all interests.

Refurbished condos and Victorian estates along the river
Most homes in the neighborhood's center are large condos in former factories and warehouses. These condos often have community swimming pools, fitness centers and rooftop terraces. Lutz says when the neighborhood was first developed, many young professionals moved in from out of state, forming a community for those who didn't know anyone in the city. A one-bedroom condo will likely cost around $300,000, while a three-bedroom unit can cost $600,000. Buyers will find Craftsman houses with spacious front porches and grand Victorian homes on the neighborhood's east side. The streets here are lined with mature trees, and the homes often include ornate porch railings and turrets. Craftsman homes in the area cost around $500,000, while Victorian homes can cost over $1 million.

Liberty Bar is a dimly lit bar and restaurant on South Alamo Street known for its brunch, burgers, and wine selection. Rosario's is a popular restaurant with a spacious new location. Locals enjoy the tortilla soup and the prickly pear margaritas. Supermarket chain H-E-B has its headquarters in SoFlo, set on the historic San Antonio Arsenal grounds. Walk, run or paddle along the River Walk
The San Antonio River in the middle of the neighborhood provides residents plenty of room for outdoor recreation. "This is not the busy, touristy section of the river; it's the more serene recreational section. You see people rollerblading, walking and riding bikes," says Lutz. Residents can access the River Walk at several locations, including South Alamo Street, Johnson Street and Arsenal Street. This area is also one of just a few zones of the river that is open to paddling within city limits. Boaters can put their kayaks or paddleboards in at the launch area near Guenther Street and paddle upriver to Nueva Street. Beautify San Antonio Park offers an ample green space full of trees with a walking trail and several benches to relax.
