International is a sprawling rural community with suburban sensibilities outside San Bernardino International Airport. The area was once the site of Norton Air Force Base, a logistics and heavy transport facility that was the setting for television shows such as The Twilight Zone and Hollywood films such as The Aviator. The community is growing steadily due to investment and revitalization efforts; spacious homes are right down the street from quality schools and freeway access provides quick drives for commuting workers.

Here you'll find a community of suburban tracts surrounded by landscaped greenery and rural scenery. "The area is pretty rural," says Progressive Properties Realtor Jeff Teel, "but a lot is going on because of the airport and the reinvestment going on there." Fenced homes are set in rows along rural avenues and around quiet cul-de-sacs, with the bustling downtown and the San Bernardino freeway just ten minute's drive to the west and the International Airport located east of Tippecanoe Avenue. Many of International's single-family houses are single-story ranch-style houses. However, there are a range of different exterior designs and floor plans to choose from. Both shingle and terracotta roof tiles are a common sight, as well as stucco facades in various vibrant colors. Fenced yards, paved driveways and garages are typical amenities in International's landscape. Home lots have been steadily increasing in price; Jeff Teel says, "people are growing and transforming the area, and it's resulted in lots of increasing lot values." Prices for homes range from $260,000 to $450,000, with floor plans ranging from 900 to 1,700 square feet.

Public school students are served by the San Bernardino City Unified School District, attending primary schools like Monterey Elementary from kindergarten to sixth grade. Students move on to intermediate and secondary institutions such as Curtis Middle and Indian Springs High School. The latter high school has recently been updated with a new Performing Arts Center and has a graduation rate of 92% and a student-to-teacher ratio of 28:1, according to GreatSchools.

Established San Bernardino parks are located just nearby and provide residents with the perfect opportunity to get active. After school, bring the kids to the playground at Meadowbrook Park. Seccombe Lake Recreation Area is an expansive downtown nature park ringed by a half-mile walking trail where you can catch great views of the lake or relax in the shaded picnic areas. Take the freeway north and visit the San Bernardino Mountains and National Forest, with miles of hiking, mountain biking, equestrian trails, campgrounds and alpine getaways like Lake Arrowhead and Big Bear Lake.

Neighborhood thoroughfares put residents just a stone's throw away from quality retailers and shopping centers. The Goodwill Outlet offers a wide assortment of secondhand apparel, home goods and books to browse through. The Shop Rite Liquor Mart offers a range of convenience goods and other necessities. There are also several local and chain restaurants perfect for when you want a nice meal. Phil's Charbroiled Burgers is an old-fashioned counter-serve establishment specializing in tender burgers, pastrami and steak sandwiches. Super Burrito is another well-established regional fast-food restaurant dishing out a mix of Mexican and American eats from a walk-up window.

International's transforming community landscape with spacious homes and proximity to major freeways makes it a choice for a home well worth considering.
