San Gorgonio blends suburban living with urban access

San Gorgonio is a sprawling suburban community with urban sensibilities in the eastern portion of San Bernardino. The neighborhood is named for a mountain peak in the San Bernardino Mountain range and was once a locus of citriculture for the Inland Empire. Residential development has resulted in quaint suburban homes and well-rated schools, all within a short distance of shopping and freeways.

Midcentury modern and ranch-style homes with large yards

The community offers traditional suburban tracts consisting of manicured lawns and sidewalks fringed by leafy trees and landscaped greenery. Progressive Properties Realtor Jeff Teel says, "the area is pretty residential and well-established; you've got the park and updated schools close by, plus freeways and the Metrolink will get you in and out quickly." Single-family houses make up the entirety of San Gorgonio's residential landscape. A variety of single and multi-story houses line San Gorgonio's streets, mainly consisting of mid-century modern and contemporary ranch-style houses. Both homes tend to have asymmetrical facades and interiors which are made to create a flow towards communal and outdoor spaces. Large yards and outdoor spaces are also available, perfect for entertaining friends and family. Other common amenities include paved driveways, multi-car garages and sidewalks providing quick routes to local schools and Metrolink stations. Home prices in San Gorgonio tend to range from $280,000 to $590,000 for large houses, with the more expensive homes in the neighborhood having only slightly higher prices than the city's average.

Area schools support academic growth and athletic achievement

Public school students are served by the San Bernardino City Unified School District, beginning their academic journey at K-8 schools like Rodriguez PREP Academy, which has an overall B-plus Niche grade. Students move on to secondary institutions like San Gorgonio High School. The high school has an overall B Niche rating and has athletic programs that have graduated Olympians and players for MLB teams like the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Year-round recreation from local leagues to alpine getaways

The San Bernardino Soccer Complex is a 47-acre facility designed for year-round youth and adult sports competitions. The complex has hosted both amateur and professional events, such as the regional championship for the United States Youth Soccer Association (USYSA). Right next door is Speicher Memorial Park, a neighborhood park with playgrounds, large grassy areas, baseball diamonds and the Arrowhead Little League Fields. "Locals are within 50 minutes' drive of the mountains," says Jeff Teel, with miles of scenic hiking, biking and equestrian trails in the San Bernardino Mountains and National Forest and alpine getaways like Lake Arrowhead and Big Bear Lake.

Groceries, discount stores and casual dining spots close to home

San Gorgonio locals are within a short distance of grocery shopping and regional restaurants. Regional grocery stores like Cardenas Markets offer imported ingredients and products, fresh produce and other household essentials. Sterling Plaza has a bevy of discount stores like Dollar Tree and 99 Cents Only Store, as well as chain restaurants like Starbucks and Del Taco. Regional chain Tacos Arandas specializes in easy, no-frills Mexican fare. Pho Nhon is a local Vietnamese restaurant that dishes out a variety of noodle dishes to enjoy.
