A serene neighborhood just minutes from Mission Boulevard
Set 10 miles north of Downtown San Diego and 3 miles from Pacific Beach (or PB, as locals call it), Bay Ho residents live central to some of the city’s most popular beachside scenes. "Mission Bay tends to attract older residents, and PB is popular with younger crowds, but Bay Ho strikes a balance with a mix of both," says Justin Flisher, a La Mesa-based real estate agent with 1st Class Real Estate San Diego. "While the neighborhood itself is quiet and laid-back, a 7-mile drive south on the 5 brings you to the nightlife scene and amusement parks in Mission Beach, which is especially lively on Sundays when it seems like the whole city comes out to play." Despite Bay Ho residents being close to the action of Belmont Park (the amusement park) and Mission Beach’s vibrant boardwalk, being further inland means avoiding the dense summer crowds.

Hillside homes with ocean views
Bay Ho's natural landscape features flower-lined trails and gentle hills; the terrain flattens out further west. Proximity to the water is a major draw, but the neighborhood's location on the east side of the freeway makes it more affordable than Pacific Beach. Homes in Bay Ho, developed since the 1950s, have backyard pools, ocean views and canyon scenery, as well as bright exteriors and tall palms. Sprawling Mediterranean Revivals, Contemporary and Craftsman homes are set on the hills, while traditional midcentury homes can be found on the flat land toward the main roads. Condominiums and townhouses range from $450,000 to $500,000, while single-family homes go for between $1.2 to $2 million.
