Most homes in Bay Terraces were built in the ‘80s and ‘90s in a variety of styles including Minimal Traditional, ranch and Mediterranean. Public school students in Bay Terraces can walk to Boone Elementary, which is named in honor of trailblazer Daniel Boone, and receives an overall grade of B-minus from Niche. Bel Middle School, located near the center of the neighborhood, also earns a B-minus. Morse High School, one of the San Diego Unified School District’s largest public schools, earns a B-plus. Multiple parks let locals choose to play, skate or hike

Bay Terraces residents are within walking or biking distance from two community parks and a rec center right in the neighborhood. At Bay Terraces Community Park, locals play community sports, take dogs for walks, or play on the soft sandy-foundation playground. Residents can enjoy fresh air and exercise along the Paradise Canyon Open Space hiking path, which spans several miles of secluded dirt trails off South Woodman Street In the adjacent Paradise Hills neighborhood, residents can head to the large Paradise Hills Park, which features a fenced-in dog park and skate park with ramps and rails.
