Cultural Festivals take over Mira Mesa Park
The San Diego T?t Festival is a Lunar New Year tradition attracting more than 30,000 people to Mira Mesa Park. The three-day event features cultural performances, food and a crowing of the year’s Miss Vietnam. The Mira Mesa Street Fair on Camino Ruiz is another fun-filled community draw.
In 2024, Mira Mesa will see the return of another long-running celebration, the Asian Pacific Cultural Festival. “The event was created in 2010 due to there not being any other major event taking place for Asian Pacific American Heritage Month in San Diego County,” says Dennis-Michael Broussard, who founded the festival. In his first years of hosting the event, he found that location meant everything. “We moved the event from Liberty Station to be in a space that was closer to a higher density of people of Asian descent, primarily Filipino and Vietnamese.”
Pan-Asian cuisine along Mira Mesa Boulevard
Mira Mesa has cuisine spanning the globe, though it’s well known for its diverse array of Asian restaurants. Pho Cow Cali is a family-owned staple with some of the most beloved Vietnamese food in San Diego. Little Sakana All You Can Eat Sushi and R & B Filipino Cuisine are just a couple other hotspots.
Several shopping centers serve residents here, including the central Village at Mira Mesa. The complex has a Sprouts, a Vons and there’s a Target across the street. For specialty groceries, residents can head to H Mart or Seafood City Supermarket.
