Condos from the low $600s to single-family homes for $2.5 million
Most condos and townhouses were built in the 1990s and offer shared amenities such as a community pool or playground. Depending on age, size and views, condos range from $620,000 to $1 million. Townhouses go from $710,000 to $1.2 million, reflecting build dates from the 1990s to 2002. Most single-family homes show off lovely Spanish or Mediterranean-style architecture, often with three-car garages and similar floor plans. Exterior hues vary from white to terracotta to umber. Pricing starts around $1.2 million and rises to $2.5 million based on size and extras such as pools or room for fruit trees. As an HOA community, lawns tend to be well groomed and creatively landscaped with palms, eucalyptus trees, stone walkways and decorative hedges. CAP Index gives the neighborhood a crime score of 2, far lower than the national average of 4.Play at Scripps Ranch Community Park, bike Lake Miramar Trail
It's easy to bike along sidewalks or trek a backyard trail to Scripps Ranch Community Park and Miramar Overlook Park. Scripps Ranch Community Park includes play equipment, baseball fields and a paved walking loop. There are also indoor basketball and pickleball courts at Scripps Ranch Recreation Center, which offers a calendar of classes and programs for all ages, including cinematography, dance and gymnastics. At Miramar Overlook Park, just north of the Miramar Reservoir's miles of shoreline, locals play at the playground, picnic under shady pavilions and enjoy an elevated view of the reservoir. "Living around Miramar Lake is great for those who love a wilderness type of lifestyle where you can hike long distances, ride bikes along the water or have a casual barbecue," says Ng. "And just past the 15 and 56 corridors, miles of trails wind all through Black Mountain." Miramar Reservoir allows boating and fishing but no swimming or standup paddleboarding. The 5-mile paved Lake Miramar Trail parallels the water's edge and is popular with cyclists, runners and birdwatchers.A-plus Scripps Ranch High School
Public schools are within the San Diego Unified School District, which gets an A on Niche. Kids can start at one of three elementary schools, including A-grade Dingeman. Thurgood Marshall Middle also earns an A, while Scripps Ranch High gets an A-plus. Scripps Ranch High has been recognized as a California Honor Roll, California Distinguished and National Blue Ribbon school, and has a field hockey team that won the California Interscholastic Federation San Diego Section championship in 2021. Three miles southwest of central Miramar Ranch North, the public community San Diego Miramar College has an aviation training institute and biotechnology center among its many offerings, including associate degrees, certificates of completion and credits transferrable to a bachelor's degree. By late 2025, the college will offer a bachelor's degree in public safety management.Movie night in Scripps Ranch Park, holiday tree lighting in Hoyt Park
Scripps Ranch Park is on the rotation of Summer Movies in the Park, hosted by San Diego County Parks and Recreation. Neighbors bring blankets, beach chairs and picnics to the after-sunset showing. In the spring and fall, the Scripps Ranch Civic Association hosts a community garage sale, and in nearby Hoyt Park, the annual holiday tree lighting is always well attended.Immediate access to Interstate 15
Most residents drive, but the San Diego Metropolitan Transit System's bus route 964 picks up at a few stops along Scripps Ranch Boulevard for transit to Miramar College. Residents can get on Interstate 15 along the neighborhood's western edge to reach the San Diego International Airport in approximately an 20-mile, 25-minute drive south.Sammy's Food & Wine for pizza, Public House for fish and chips
The neighborhood isn't famous for nightlife or fancy dining, but Ng says there are a few local favorites. "Sammy's is where everybody goes for wood-fired pizza, and if you want more dining options, you can just hop on the 15 and head into Mira Mesa or Poway." In the Scripps Ranch Marketplace, Public House 131 features elevated pub fare, and O Sushi & Grill serves fresh Japanese cuisine. The plaza’s services and stores include Vons, Starbucks and CVS.
