Lake Hodges is a popular destination for walkers and joggers hoping to take advantage of the impressive trail system surrounding the lake. The neighborhood is also home to multiple golf courses. “Rancho Bernardo is very well known for golfing,” Estremera says. “We have four major golf areas here.” These include The Heights Golf Club, Oaks North Golf Course, Country Club Rancho Bernardo and the nearby Maderas Golf Club.A rated schools

Over 90% of Rancho Bernardo High students enroll in college after graduation. “The main reason people come here is [Poway Unified School District] may be the best school district in San Diego,” Estremera says. “That’s why most people honestly move here if they have children.”Hop on Interstate 15
The interstate makes it a convenient commute for those heading into Downtown San Diego, located just 25 miles south of Rancho Bernardo. However, for some residents, the noise created by traffic makes Interstate 15 more of an inconvenience. “Some homes sit up high, a little closer to the freeway, and those people don’t appreciate the noise,” Estremera says. “But for homes sitting below, typically the trees and that type of thing block the sound so it honestly depends where you’re situated.”Popular, longstanding restaurants
Interstate 15 cuts right through the neighborhood and is lined with a variety of retail and dining options for residents to choose from, along with plenty of grocery stores like Albertsons and Costco. The dining scene expands far beyond a few chain locations along the highway, however. “We have a couple restaurants that have been here for quite some time,” Estremera says. “The Veranda is inside the Rancho Bernardo Inn, which is a major hotel for golfing, and Carver’s Steakhouse is very popular and has been around forever. But the big thing here is Bernardo Winery.” The winery has been around since 1889, serving its famous wines alongside classic Italian dishes.
