A community planned for the students
As San Diego's "Golden Triangle," University City is bordered by Miramar to the east, La Jolla to the west and Mission Valley to the south. Initially developed in the 1960s for UC San Diego students (the campus is just north of the neighborhood), University City has evolved into a vibrant community of around 56,000 residents, with 35,000 being students. Today, the convenience of being close to major employers like Qualcomm (headquartered here) and top-rated public schools has attracted families and budding professionals. "The community exists to accommodate hardworking young people - from late-night pizza and coffee to internships at tech giants like Qualcomm and Illumina,” says Min Sun, a San Diego-based real estate agent with 15 years of experience. “They can balance their busy weekday schedules with weekend beach breaks in nearby La Jolla.”
