At Candlestick Point Park, the annual “Growing Together” social gathering takes place each May and is a favorite neighborhood event. Locals come together to design a community-created mural that permanently resides at one of the park’s structures while enjoying family-friendly activities, food trucks and live music. When looking for other community events, nearby John McLaren Park, located a few miles east, hosts a few local gatherings throughout the year at the site’s amphitheater area. The most popular event is a free summer concert series, where locals can sit out on the lawn and enjoy outdoor musical performances from some of the area’s best talents.Hiking at Candlestick Point Recreation Area
Across from the main Candlestick Point neighborhood area, residents can cross the street to stroll along paved paths that outline the point along the shore. For a brief trip, locals can walk out to the end of the Point Regulus pier to watch boats and ships return to their docks as the sun sets beyond the horizon. Continuing along the trails, residents can fish at the Sunrise Point Fishing Pier, a popular, wind-swept spot for area fishermen, or explore even more of the bay’s ecosystem on a bike or foot in the neighborhood’s 252-acre Candlestick Point Recreation Area. Bayview Park is a little farther north and inland, surrounded by Eucalyptus trees and offering beautiful panoramic views of San Francisco and the Peninsula, along with a looped walking and biking trail.
