Former home of the San Francisco Giants
On the eastern edge of San Francisco is Candlestick Point. Often shrouded in fog and chilled by cool Pacific crosswinds, the neighborhood holds a special place in many San Franciscan’s hearts. Formerly the home of the city’s beloved Giants baseball team, this stretch of land on a lip of the bay is largely open with nature trails coursing by the waterfront, near the iconic stadium complex that remains etched in the memory of resident San Francisco sports fans. Now, the area brings in more residential living, particularly for those seeking lower city housing costs with a newer, contemporary aesthetic next to the quieter eastern San Francisco shoreline. “The Candlestick area has a lot of newer residents, and it’s a more affordable part of San Francisco partly because there’s not a lot that’s around it,” says Kathy Wall, a nearby Brisbane resident and local realtor at INTERO Real Estate Services. “There are mostly just townhomes and condos here, and they are all very nice and near the bay.”
