Village-like San Francisco residential enclave with coveted architecture
San Francisco’s Clarendon Heights neighborhood showcases incomparable views, well-rated schools and a central location close to much of the city's top dining, retail and entertainment attractions. "Clarendon Heights feels so set apart from the city because it's so quiet and almost suburban, but it's right in the middle of the city,” says Erik Throm, a local realtor and San Francisco homeowner. “It also offers some of the most exquisite views in San Francisco.” Residents here can enjoy some of the city’s most iconic architecture set amongst a winding, village-like enclave, where Tudors, villas and modern compounds reside along lush hillscapes full of eucalyptuses and grand live oaks.
Midcentury bungalows and upscale contemporary properties
This secluded neighborhood is a rarity in the city for its nearly traffic-less streets, well-maintained sidewalks and quiet, more suburban feel. Many of the neighborhood’s homes are terraced into the side of Mount Sutro, providing scenic views of the city and San Francisco Bay. The most common housing styles include midcentury bungalows, Tudor Revivals and grand contemporary compounds with upscale interior amenities, geometric exteriors and scenic vistas. Many homes also have solar panels, which is perfect for residents interested in green energy solutions. Housing prices start at around $2 million for smaller bungalows and can go up to $5 million for upscale compounds with over 3,000 square feet of space.

Conveniently located next to Muni light rail and main highways
The neighborhood is known for its peaceful seclusion, meaning residents are a little further away from public transportation options. "The area is very hilly and doesn't offer a lot of public transportation, so you'll need a car here," says Throm. Residents are just two miles from Laguna Honda Hospital and five miles from downtown San Francisco. There is a Muni light rail station just 2 miles away on Laguna Honda Boulevard, and the main Highway 280 is about four miles south for getting around and outside the city.
