Lone Mountain

Baked goods, brews and bikes
Several restaurants and shops line the streets of Lone Mountain, with particular regard to Fulton Street and Geary Boulevard. At English tavern The Pig and Whistle, diners can enjoy fish and chips with a pint of Guinness while watching a soccer game by the bar. They can also enjoy coffee and pastries in a neo-European feel with its textured sand-colored walls, striped awning and outdoor patio tables. Arguello Market serves “world-famous” turkey at its deli, and it also provides groceries to the community. San Francyclo supplies a nifty way to get around the neighborhood, whether it’s students on their way to class or residents wanting eco-friendly modes of transportation. City Center includes a group of familiar stores such as Target, Whole Foods and Petco.A park for everything
Rossi Park includes a playground, a dog run and a swimming pool. Golden Gate Park stretches for over 1,000 acres and includes a rich variety of beautiful areas and activities like Japanese tea gardens, an archery field and a paved area for roller skating. Residents can also attend soccer games at the University of San Francisco’s Negoesco Stadium. The Presidio National Park is full of many natural sites like beaches and trails. It also has unique quirks like military architecture left over from the park’s former days as an army base and a Yoda statue outside the Letterman Digital Arts Center, part of the Lucasfilm company.Lone Mountain homes
In Lone Mountain, a good number of houses are single-family homes, duplexes and converted townhomes. Some are painted in pale pastels and earthy tones, and many have titled or French-style mansard roofing. Properties tend to sell after 30 days. Prices begin around $800,000 for townhomes and condos while larger homes can cost between $1.4 million and $3 million. Gullicken says of the housing market, “Single-family homes have been selling really well. Prices have been rising and multiple offers get made. It's different from the condo market where you’re lucky to get even one offer. Condos have continued to soften in price because there’s way more supply than demand." He also talks about the street layouts. "Lone Mountain has a lot of cul-de-sacs. People love it because there’s no through traffic and it's quiet. It's one of the few neighborhoods where you’ll see kids playing in the street.” Lone Mountain homes once even attracted the eye of a famous psychedelic rock band. In the 1960s, the members of Jefferson Airplane would gather at their stately rehearsal space/ party pad at 2400 Fulton Street. Although it is now privately owned, the stately columned house remains, enshrining San Francisco’s role in the counterculture movement.Highly-rated public schools and the University of San Francisco
