California
From manufactured homes to traditional dwellings, California has variety
The 55-plus communities in the neighborhood include Blue Fountain and Valley Sunrise, both gated. They offer shared amenities like pools and feature manufactured houses built in the mid-20th century to within the last 15 years. “They do a pretty good job of keeping them well-maintained,” Van Zee says. All-ages manufactured home parks in the city include Las Casitas and El Rancho. Those house styles sell for $10,000 to $115,000, depending on the home's condition and age. The California neighborhood also has a few traditional bungalow styles built in the early to mid-20th century; prices range from $300,000 to $450,000. A pocket of early 21st-century ranch-style homes in the La Perla development sells for $400,000 to $500,000.Residents have close access to businesses on San Jacinto Avenue
San Jacinto Avenue, close to the neighborhood, is one of the city’s busiest thoroughfares. “It has great amenities,” Van Zee says of the area. “They have a lot of stores. It’s also close to a casino in that area.” This stretch also includes a Walmart Supercenter, Cardenas Markets, Stater Bros. Markets and an Aldi grocery store. Chain restaurants from Starbucks to Wingstop also line the roadway. Stadium Pizza is a local restaurant in the area, popular for its food and its sports bar atmosphere that's packed with TVs. The Soboba Casino Resort is a bit farther east, on a 209-acre site 3 miles from California. The casino features 2,000 slot machines and 35 table games.Whether music or movies, San Jacinto puts on a show
Many residents in the California neighborhood are within a mile of the Estudillo Mansion. The brick home, built on a former Mexican land grant, is on the National Register of Historic Places and dates back to 1885. It sits on a 6-acre estate by the San Jacinto Museum, whose exhibits focus on the city's history and the wider area. The Estudillo Mansion lawn hosts many events, including a Friday-night Movies of the Mansion series from April to December and the Wednesday-night Kool August Nights Concert Series throughout August. The Independence Day Parade and Street Festival in July features food trucks, music, bounce houses and more.San Jacinto schools offer a range of extracurricular activities

The neighborhood is zoned for the C-rated Juan Bautista De Anza Elementary, C-minus-rated San Jacinto Elementary or C-minus-rated Park Hill Elementary based on where kids live. All offer a variety of after-school programs. Students go to the C-rated North Mountain Middle or C-rated Monte Vista Middle according to their address, and both have sports teams ranging from flag football to track and field. The area’s San Jacinto High has a B-minus grade and has clubs that include mountain biking and culinary arts. The B-plus-rated San Jacinto Valley Academy, a tuition-free charter school, is just about 3 miles from the neighborhood and is an option for kindergarten through 12th grade.Valley-Wide Regional Park is an anchor of the city’s park system
The neighborhood is home to the 36-acre Valley-Wide Regional Park, which has ball diamonds, soccer fields, tennis courts and a fitness trail. The Michael Paul Gymnasium is here, too. The space holds programs including weekly Mom and Me groups, open to kids 5 and younger and a parent or guardian, and featuring crafts, snacks and music.Riverside Transit buses and nearby interstates provide transportation options
Residents are close to multiple stops in the Riverside Transit Agency bus system, a network of more than 30 routes. Drivers aren’t far from California State Route 79, a connection to Interstate 10 for trips to places like the Palm Springs International Airport, 46 miles away. I-10 is also a way to get to Los Angeles, while I-215 and I-15 are routes to San Diego. The 327-bed Hemet Global Medical Center is just 3 miles in the neighboring city of Hemet.
