Soboba
Senior living, 'burbs with mountain views and a golf course
Palm trees, shrubs and pebbles decorate landscaped lawns. A cluster of single-family homes settle close to the country club, another near the mountains to the east. Southwestern-style architecture is prominent, and many homes have large forward-facing garages that accommodate two to three cars. Living closer to the mountains brings panoramic views and larger properties on half an acre or more, typically ranging in price from the $600,000s to the $900,000s. On the country club side, home sizes are modest, with smaller lots to match. Pricing tends to range from the low to high $400,000s. The neighborhood’s gated senior community, Soboba Springs Estates, is south of the course and casino, across from a fishing lake. It’s filled with manufactured homes ranging from $60,000 to the high $100,000s. Homes in Soboba are established, with a median build year of 1989.Residents enjoy an outdoorsy lifestyle when the weather is nice
Soboba is roughly 4 miles from the Soboba Indian Reservation, the home of the Luiseño Indians, who run the golf course, country club and casino. Residents can book a tee time on the championship course and drop in for pickleball or a day at the pool. There are plenty of pocket parks in the surrounding area, one of the closest being Mistletoe Park, which offers a playground, basketball court and outdoor gym roughly 2 miles west. It’s around 13 miles to Diamond Valley Lake, with hiking trails, boat rentals and fishing waters known for black bass. Riverside County, where Soboba resides, is particularly prone to wildfires. Over 140 have been recorded since the 1980s.There’s live music at the casino and events downtown
The casino is an electric spot with a robust event schedule. Its Cabaret Lounge offers an intimate entertainment venue, hosting free viewings once a month of UFC Championship Fights, Latin nights on Tuesdays and DJ nights on Thursdays. The Tree Bar, where an illuminated artificial tree "grows" from the floor, is a pit stop for drinks and live music on Fridays and Saturdays. Citywide events, including Fourth of July celebrations, happen in downtown San Jacinto, 3 miles away.Faith shows up in big ways in this community
The faith-based organization Calcinto Ranch hosts free summer camps for children with incarcerated parents. The camp integrates planned lessons on problem-solving and anger resolution. It also inspires ways to connect, like horseback riding and arts and crafts. St. Joseph's Catholic Church, established in 1888, is just south of the community, serving locals of Soboba and the nearby reservation.Students get their start through the San Jacinto Unified School District
Students attend the San Jacinto Unified School District. They may start out at Clayton A. Record Jr., Elementary School, which earns a C-plus from Niche. From there, they may filter into the C-rated North Mountain Middle School and B-minus-rated San Jacinto High School, the latter of which opened a state-of-the-art aquatic center in 2019. The center was partially funded by the Luiseño Indians and features a large lap and polo pool and shaded bleachers.Diverse restaurants in the neighborhood and shopping nearby
The closest spot to dine is the neighborhood resort, where there’s a noodle bar, steakhouse, breakfast and lunch spot, and a "restaurant row” steps from the casino offering a mix of Latin, American and Italian fare near the casino floor. It’s a relatively short drive to a cluster of grocery stores, with a Stater Bros. Markets, Aldi and Walmart Supercenter within 4 miles. Popular retailers, including Old Navy and Target, are around 8 miles away in the city of Hemet. An area connected by State Route 79 and a medical center nearby
