Sunrise Ranch
Contemporary homes surround the San Jacinto Reservoir
Homes are on both sides of San Jacinto Reservoir, with some properties near the Ramona Expressway and others near Cottonwood Avenue. Many houses were built in the 2000s and are on lots between 7,000 and 8,000 square feet. Single-story properties sell for $450,000 to $500,000, while multistory residences are on the market for $500,000 to $650,000. These Spanish Revival, new traditional and ranch-style homes are close together and surrounded by wide sidewalks, and native trees and plants. The peaks of the San Jacinto Mountains are visible in the distance.City parks and Mount San Jacinto State Park
Nearly a dozen city parks are within walking distance of Sunrise Ranch’s residential streets. Aaron J. Ward Park on La Clarita Avenue and Sandalwood Park on Sandalwood Street are open green spaces. Potter Ranch Park and Col. Lewis Millett Park on Ramano Boulevard have small playgrounds and gazebos. Valley-Wide Regional Park on Esplanade Avenue is 2 miles away and has an indoor gym and facilities for baseball, soccer, basketball and volleyball. Mount San Jacinto State Park, which has an entrance 26 miles from Sunrise Ranch, features 50 miles of hiking trails and a tramway that travels over the mountains and into Palm Springs. “We call the tram ‘cactus to the clouds’ because you get to watch the desert and mountains fade right into the sky,” says Mary Hopkins, a park aide for California State Parks.Energy and farming science at Mountain View High School
Schools in the San Jacinto Unified School District include De Anza Elementary School, which has a C rating on Niche, C-minus-rated Monte Vista Middle School and B-minus-rated Mountain View High School. Mountain View High has a specialized aquaponics program where students learn about alternative energy and farming at the school’s living science center. The Mt. San Jacinto College main campus is 5 miles away.Living near the San Jacinto Reservoir
The Eastern Municipal Water District maintains the San Jacinto Reservoir water treatment plant and four other plants in Riverside County. The San Jacinto plant on Sanderson Avenue is responsible for cleaning and recycling water for the entire city. “We do treat wastewater, but we have programs to cut down on pollution,” says Joseph Grindstaff, the division director for Eastern Municipal Water District. “Most of our neighbors don’t mind and like knowing we have a dependable local water supply.”Local businesses and a farmers market at Farmer’s Corner
Most restaurants and shops in San Jacinto are on Ramona Boulevard. Aldi, Walmart and Stater Bros. Markets are near the intersection of Ramona Boulevard and Esplanade Avenue. The Farmer's Corner retail complex is farther down the street. The plaza has local small businesses, including a gift shop, jeweler, barber, candy shop and restaurants like The Good Egg Family Restaurant and Four Seasons Buffet. Farmer’s Corner also hosts the San Jacinto Certified Farmers Market every Sunday and Thursday. Houses of worship also surround Ramona Boulevard, including St. George Orthodox Church, San Jacinto United Methodist Church and San Jacinto Assembly of God.Interstate connection to Palm Springs, Riverside and San Bernardino
The Ramona Expressway cuts through San Jacinto and connects to Interstate 10, while Florida Avenue runs through Hemet and joins Interstate 215. I-10 leads to Palm Springs, 40 miles away, while I-215 is the fastest route to Riverside, 30 miles from San Jacinto. Both interstates connect to San Bernardino, about 35 miles away. San Bernardino and Palm Springs each have commercial airports. The Riverside Transit Agency (RTA) serves the entire county, and a daily bus route travels between Hemet and Mt. San Jacinto College, with stops at the Hemet Global Medical Center.Heatwaves in San Jacinto
The San Jacinto Valley is known for extreme heat. In 2024, San Jacinto had a record-breaking heat wave, with an all-time high temperature of 106 degrees. Because of its dry conditions and high winds, the area is also prone to wildfires between June and October.
