Coyote combines a country feel with city conveniences close by
At the heart of the verdant Coyote Valley, among fields of fruit and nursery crops, Coyote is a quiet mountainside community on the fringes of Morgan Hill and San Jose. Morgan Hill’s diverse businesses provide plenty of nearby shopping and dining opportunities, while San Jose offers a wide range of employment opportunities. Residents have quick access to both cities while enjoying a relatively rural lifestyle. The lots in Coyote are slightly larger than those in surrounding communities, offering ample space to grow crops or keep a few animals. Locals also enjoy mountain views from their homes, rarely obstructed by tall trees or buildings. Additionally, Coyote provides quick access to trails, lakes and public parks.
Back roads wind through agricultural fields and custom estates
Coyote is less developed than its San Jose and Morgan Hill neighbors. Homes are more spread out on sizable lots, often measuring at least an acre; many of the lots are estate-style, with space for equestrian or sports facilities. The community’s back roads are sunbaked and relatively narrow, cutting around wide-open agricultural fields. The neighborhood features a couple of small housing developments with diverse architectural styles. There’s a decent number of ranch-style and colonial homes with Mediterranean influences, but several homes are entirely custom-built. Manufactured homes in the area have sold for between $100,000 and $450,000. Custom homes on some land typically sell for over $1 million, but a few townhomes and early 20th-century single-family homes have sold for between $700,000 and $925,000.

Cochrane Plaza features a couple of big-box stores, such as Walmart Supercenter and Hobby Lobby, along with a few locally owned eateries, including Tandoori Flames and Tortilla House. Target and Dick’s Sporting Goods are available in a shopping center near Cochrane Plaza, along with popular chain restaurants like Chili’s and MOD Pizza. Downtown Morgan Hill, about 5 miles from the heart of Coyote, has several additional spots to shop or dine, many of which are locally owned. Among the walkable downtown are vegan spots like Craft Roots and steak houses like Willard Hicks. There are also a couple of art galleries, coffee shops and boutiques.
Nearby parks and trails encourage residents to get outside

The park covers over 1,600 acres and features several scenic overlooks connected by an easily navigable network of trails. Visitors enjoy views of the Santa Clara and Almaden Valleys.
