Why Glenview Serenity attracts buyers in the Almaden Valley

Glenview Serenity is a residential neighborhood in the Almaden Valley with spacious homes and a classic suburban atmosphere. Buyers are often drawn to the area's combination of highly rated schools, popular local parks and scenic views of the Santa Cruz Mountains. Add in nearby shopping and dining along Almaden Expressway and a straightforward commute to major employment centers, and you'll see why this community is a sought-after spot in the valley.

Many single-family homes have spacious yards and mountain views

The neighborhood mainly consists of single-family homes from the mid-1960s to the late 1990s. New Traditional and ranch-style houses are common, but you'll also find some split-level and custom homes, too. Many properties have big enough backyards for covered patios, in-ground pools and outdoor kitchens. Some also have views of Mount Umunhum. Home prices usually range from $2.1 million to $2.5 million, but some properties have sold for up to $3.2 million.

School options include Leland High and private STEM programs

Glenview Serenity is served by the San Jose Unified School District, which includes Leland High School. The school is highly rated by Niche and well-known for Quixilver, a student-run robotics team that has competed in the FIRST Robotics Competition since 2005. Nearby private school options include Almaden Country Day School, a prekindergarten through eighth-grade school with a lab-based STEM program.

Local parks, golf clubs and county trails keep people active

Outdoor living is a key part of daily life. "There are great parks, and it's close enough to the rural area that you feel like you're outside the city," says Mark DeTar, an agent with Compass Real Estate. Families take their kids to play at spots like Glenview and Greystone parks, while some residents become members of the Almaden Golf & Country Club. A short drive away, Almaden Quicksilver County Park has miles of trails for hikers, cyclists and equestrians. Trails wind past oak forests and ridges with panoramic views of the Santa Clara Valley, as well as old mining structures. "Quicksilver was a huge mercury mine and mining town in the 1800s," says Realtor Matt Tenczar of Compass Real Estate. "There's so much hiking and nature there now, but it's also got a ton of history."
