Million-dollar single-family houses sit next to budget options

The neighborhood mainly offers single-family homes built between the late 1960s and 1990s. You’ll find a wide variety of Spanish Revival, New Traditional and ranch-style houses with one to two stories, spacious multicar driveways and attractive landscaping. The area also has manufactured homes, townhouse complexes and contemporary-style infill housing from the 2020s.

Prices vary depending on the style of house. Single-family homes usually cost between $1 million and $1.9 million. Townhouses start in the low $700,000s and reach the low $800,000s, while manufactured homes are the least expensive option, ranging from the upper $300,000s to the upper $500,000s.

Residents love Hidden Glen’s convenient location

While the community can feel very suburban, it’s well-known for its quick access to everyday amenities and popular destinations. “It’s an extremely convenient place to live,” says local librarian Beth Anders. “Not only are the streets and houses really nice, but you’ve got the mall on one side and the lake on another. The mountains aren’t far either, and you can see them if you walk in that direction. You have so much to do and a pleasant little neighborhood to live in at the same time. Of the places I’ve lived around the city, this is my favorite.”

Which school districts and campuses serve local students

Two public school districts cover Hidden Glen: the Evergreen and East Side Union High school districts. Students may attend a variety of schools, but Holly Oak Elementary School is within walking distance of many homes. Students can then head to the highly rated Quimby Oak Middle School, which has a project-based program called the Lobo School of Innovation. Silver Creek High School offers career pathways in business and information technology.

Highways, buses and bike lanes shape daily commutes

Most people commute by car. East Capitol Expressway and Tully Road run through the neighborhood, and Highway 101 is nearby. These major routes connect to the rest of San Jose and job centers around Silicon Valley. The community also has good access to public transportation. A large VTA bus center is just across the expressway from the neighborhood, and bus stops are available throughout Hidden Glen. People who prefer to bike can use the designated bike lanes along main roads.

While the expressway can bring some excess noise and traffic to the area, most residential streets are shielded from congestion.

Lake Cunningham Regional Park is the heart of local recreation

Hidden Glen is home to Lake Cunningham Regional Park, a very popular spot in San Jose. The park’s various amenities surround a 50-acre boating and fishing lake. When people aren’t out on the water, they’re biking along the park’s paved paths, playing at the playground or picnicking. The park also includes CaliBunga Waterpark and Lake Cunningham Action Sports Park, an expansive skateboarding facility with obstacles for all levels.
