Overfelt is almost exclusively filled with three-bedroom ranch-style homes from the 1960s, with stucco or vinyl exteriors and wide rectangular windows. Reid-Hillview County Airport set to close in 2031
The Reid-Hillview County Airport is at the top of the neighborhood and is scheduled to close by 2031. “The airport is not used much,” Webb says. “Only really small planes are allowed.” Still, some residents are trying to close the airport down now because of the continued use of lead fuel by some pilots. In 2021, the Santa Clara County Office of Education evaluated the lead levels of children under six years old – Overfelt residents had a lead test positivity rate of 2.50% or more. The report listed Reid-Hillview as a significant source of airborne lead in the Santa Clara Valley. While Overfelt’s rate of motor vehicle theft is somewhat high, with a CAP Index score of six out of 10, the neighborhood’s overall crime score is four, which is on par with the national average.
