In 2024, Niche ranked Sartorette Elementary as one of the top 30 best charter elementary schools in the San Francisco Bay Area. Part of Sartorette Elementary’s success can be attributed to the strong support network formed between parents and teachers. “The community here is incredible,” Stieber says. Students can then head to Price Middle School, a public charter institution with an A-minus rating. For high school, learners can attend the A-rated Branham High School located in the Campbell Union High School District.Outdoor athletic facilities at Butcher Park
Within Rose-Sartorette is the 10-acre Butcher Park, which features a children’s playground, picnic tables and several outdoor athletic facilities, including a volleyball court, a softball field and two basketball courts. The park also has a permit-only soccer field and a designated dog park area, which is separated for small and large dogs. A few blocks away from the park is the Cambrian Branch Library, which offers free technology resources, community room rentals and weekly events such as reading time for kids. For a larger outdoor area, residents can head over to the Los Gatos Creek County Park, which is just a short drive away along Camden Avenue. The Los Gatos Park features a hiking trail along the creek, biking paths and fishing ponds.Dining options at Branham Center
Along Hilldale Avenue, which borders the northern edge of the neighborhood, residents can find a small shopping center with a Home Depot, Target and a combined T.J. Maxx and HomeGoods department store. Also on Hillsdale is Smart & Final Extra, a supermarket chain that offers discounts on bulk items. Just south of Rose-Sartorette is another small shopping area called Branham Center that features a Safeway grocery store and several dining spots, including Sushi Island, El Pollo Loco and Pho Luc Lac, a Vietnamese restaurant. “There’s also an area that’s being revamped right now called the Cambrian Park Plaza. When it’s done, it’s going to be a mixed-use development that will feature retail and residential property space, as well as a senior living facility,” Stieber says. Cambrian Park Plaza is located only a mile outside the neighborhood, just off of Camden Avenue.Pedestrian-friendly streets
Although most residents here rely on personal vehicles for transportation, Rose-Sartorette itself is easy to navigate by foot. “It's a pretty walkable area,” Stieber says. “The sidewalks are pedestrian-friendly and curbed – the city actually went in about two years ago and redid them.” Directly south of the neighborhood is the Norman Y. Mineta Highway, which connects to the nearby Almaden Expressway and State Route 17, both of which travel up into Downtown San Jose approximately 10 miles away. Residents can access bus services in this area operated by Valley Transportation Authority, or VTA. Several stops along VTA’s local Route 37 – which stretches between West Valley College and Capitol Station – can be found along Hillsdale Avenue. The Good Samaritan Hospital of San Jose offers a 24-hour emergency room and is situated approximately 2 miles outside Rose-Sartorette.
