"These houses don't feel like what you see every other place," says Linda Baker, founder and Realtor with Milestone Realty, who grew up in the neighborhood. "They're more of an experience and not just a house." Buyers can find everything from Tudors, bungalows and Victorians from the early 1900s to midcentury modern homes developed by the renowned Joseph Eichler. Stately Spanish Revivals sit next to Craftsman-style homes and contemporary new construction. Interiors are just as unique, with many homes retaining their original hardwood floors, open layouts or iconic Batchelder fireplaces. Prices usually range from $1 million to $5.7 million, although some homes have sold for as much as $8.6 million. The neighborhood also has HOA-managed townhouses and condos costing between the low $500,000s and $1.5 million, plus monthly fees.

"The city has transformed many of the major roadways to be more biking-safe, and easy access to the interstates makes a lot of the Bay Area accessible," Baker says. Interstate 280 and state Route 87 quickly connect to Downtown San Jose and major tech employers, like Apple. State Route 17 and Interstate 880 are nearby for regional travel. VTA bus routes run through the neighborhood, and people can catch the VTA light rail or Caltrain from the Tamien station.

Trails, parks and shaded streets support active lifestyles
Enjoying the outdoors is at the heart of Willow Glen's identity. The entire community is lined with trees, and you'll often see people walking and biking around the neighborhood. "It's cooler in Willow Glen because of all the trees," Baker says. "It's both temperature cooler on hot days, as well as visually cooler because the trees are so beautiful to walk under." The area also has many parks, like Willow Street Frank Bramhall Park. Here, kids run around the playground while people picnic or play tennis together. For walking, jogging or cycling, you can hop on the Los Gatos Creek Trail or the newer Three Creeks Trail, a former railroad line-turned-pedestrian path.

Festivals and holiday traditions bring Willow Glen neighbors together
Community events are a major part of life here, especially around the holidays. On Halloween, hundreds of families hit the streets to trick-or-treat. "I've talked to many homeowners who will spend hundreds of dollars on candy," Baker says. During Christmas, the neighborhood is filled with festive light displays and family-friendly activities. "People really go all out," Baker says. "There's a house where people will pay to take pictures with Santa Claus, and they donate that money to the Make-A-Wish Foundation." Other big events include:
