Plenty of space on the outskirts of the city
On the far west side of San Luis Obispo, 3 miles north of Highway 101, residential Valle Vista backs up to the rolling Irish Hills Natural Reserve. Here on the outskirts of the city, residents have an increased sense of privacy; Valle Vista's overall CAP Index Crime Score is of 2 out of 10, compared to the national average of 4. Larger homes and lot sizes also make this a popular neighborhood for families. “There’s really nice houses on acreage with views of the mountains,” says San Luis Obispo resident Susie Brans. While residents can feel removed from city living, Downtown SLO is less than 5 miles away.
