Isle Cove offers a high-rise lifestyle with expansive waterfront views

Isle Cove is a mostly residential Foster City neighborhood of high-rise condo complexes, apartment buildings and master-planned communities that offer sprawling views of the surrounding waterways. Luxury developments often have their own parks and amenities, though locals can also enjoy the various lagoons and rivers using the waterfront walkways or visit Edgewater Park at the neighborhood’s center. In addition to the parks and walkways, the neighborhood is conveniently located near the freeway, major shopping centers and several top-rated schools.

Mostly a mix of condos, apartments and townhomes

Apartments and condos comprise the majority of housing in Isle Cove, including several luxury high-rise complexes from the late 20th century, which offer views of the water. Smaller units, measuring between 950 and 1,500 square feet, can range from $560,000 to $1 million, while larger units with better views can range from $1.2 million to $1.6 million. There are also several townhome complexes, mostly from the 1970s, with two-, three- and four-bedroom properties ranging from $1.1 million to $1.8 million. Detached single-family homes rarely go on the market, with only two homes selling in recent years for between $2.7 million and $3 million.

Local schools score an A rating or higher

Foster City Elementary earns an A from Niche and has a very active Parent-Teacher Association, which helps organize many events throughout the year. The annual Falcon Fest is an end-of-year tradition with carnival games, face painting and snacks. The A-rated Bowditch Middle offers after-school volleyball and flag football teams, along with a drama program. The A-plus-rated Hillsdale High has career-oriented programs in computer science and video production, and offers more than 60 after-school clubs. Extracurricular options range from a competitive robotics team to the Trader Joe’s Club, where students talk about their favorite obscure snacks and organize charity food drives.

Well-maintained community parks and waterfront trails

Many individual condo associations and communities offer private amenities, such as pools and tennis courts, but Edgewater Park is the primary public space within the neighborhood. Located next to Foster City Elementary, the park includes playgrounds, ball fields, and basketball and tennis courts. Smaller spaces like Shell Cove and Arcturus parks have pocket playgrounds. The waterways surrounding Isle Cove are lined with paved walking paths, providing residents with a scenic spot to walk their pets or ride their bikes.

Several nearby shopping centers with restaurants and big-box stores

There’s a small shopping plaza at the corner of Beach Park and Edgewater boulevards, featuring many local restaurants like Waterfront Pizza, a popular Mediterranean eatery and hookah bar. There’s also Warehouse Buffet, which serves Korean barbecue and hot pot. Safeway is the nearest grocery store and Bridgepointe Shopping Center is a few miles north, anchored by Target and other large national retailers.

Easy access to state Route 92

State Route 92 runs along the neighborhood’s edge, bridging San Francisco Bay. Larger city centers in the area include San Francisco, about 20 miles away, and San Jose, about 30 miles away. The San Mateo County Transit District operates nearby bus routes. San Mateo Medical Center is located a few miles south and San Francisco International Airport is less than 10 miles away.

Free summer concert series at the Leo Ryan Park amphitheater

Just outside of Isle Cove, Leo J. Ryan Memorial Park hosts an annual free summer concert series at the park's amphitheater. Held every Friday for six weeks, the lineup includes a variety of genres and styles, often including cover bands and dance music groups.

GreatSchools: The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.
