You get a little bit of everything in Santa Ana’s Bristol Manor neighborhood. On its east side is the city’s Historic Main Street Business District, where small businesses like cafes and flower shops operate from buildings decorated with public art. On its south side, there’s a 17-acre park with tons of sports fields and a swimming pool. And its residential areas of mostly one-story homes have a quiet, suburban feel. It’s the flavor of a city, the coziness of a suburb and the relief of a community park all in one neighborhood.
“It’s in a good location kind of close to everything,” says Matt Tilley, a Realtor in southern California known as The British Bloke. “It’s not too far from downtown Santa Ana, where the restaurant and music scene is. It’s a little bit further south, closer to the beaches and close to the 405.”
Here you’ll see a variety of one-story homes with two-car garages with front lawn pathways and white picket fences. You will also see Spanish-style homes with citrus gardens that look like they were drawn out of a storybook. Prices range from $500,000 on the low end to around $1 million.
In Bristol Manor is Memorial Park, a 17-acre public space that sits between Flower Street and Gertrude Place. The park has a baseball diamond, handball courts, multipurpose fields, picnic tables and a drinking fountain. There’s also a huge swimming pool, which will eventually be redesigned after a master planning process, and it has a stage for concerts and other performances that’s been painted in red, white, blue and yellow.
The eastern border of the neighborhood is Main Street, where you will see a sign letting you know you’ve reached the Historic Main Street Business District. As you walk or drive along the main road, you’ll see some small businesses operating out of buildings decorated with public art. Grab a horchata at Tierra Mia Coffee Company, a cozy and stylish café. Other retail stores, like flower shops and grocery store Superior Market, give the neighborhood its flavor.
Kids in Bristol Manor can attend public school through the Santa Ana Unified School District, which has about 42,000 students. Children who live in the neighborhood are assigned to either Washington Elementary School or Esqueda School until fifth grade, McFadden Institute of Technology or Lathrop Intermediate School for middle school and Saddleback High School. Students at Saddleback can join clubs for esports, drama, speech and debate and Folklorico, which exposes students to Mexican culture through dance.
Also in Bristol Manor is Mater Dei High School, a private Catholic school known for its athletic programs. It’s the only high school with three graduates who went on to win the Heisman Trophy, one of college football’s biggest honors. The school is also known for its outstanding academics – it has an A+ rating from Niche.
Bristol Manor is located close to the middle of Santa Ana. Freeways like the 405, the 5, the 22 and the 55 are just a few minutes away. Anaheim is 11 miles away, Irvine is 5 miles away and downtown Los Angeles is 35 miles northwest of the neighborhood. Bristol Manor is a pretty slice of Santa Ana where the citrus trees bloom and the city’s heart beats. Come make it your home.
